And with this, the second season of Tsubasa Chronicle has ended. All that’s left now is to look forward to April, in which its third and final season will air. Fei Wong also had some interesting reasons for being involved in this arc. Because of Dhaos’ huge powers, they were able to locate Sakura and Syaoran again. If they could take this power, they’d be able to control Syaoran’s journey again. Chaos himself ended up being indeed a cluster of feathers, who developed a mind of their own. He indeed possessed a huge amount of feathers, meaning that the ones he fed Sakura were specifically created for that purpose.

There were a few strange things about this episode. Some things I didn’t expect. First of all, when Dhaos disappeared and turned back into the feathers, they actually scattered, instead of returning to Sakura. Only one feather found its way back to her, which also explains where Dhaos got his inspirations for the fake memories he created.

I also actually expected Fei Wong’s plan to succeed in the end. After all, then he’d get back in the picture again. I’m suspecting that he’s going to succeed somewhere in the third season. In any case, once he does, the fillers will be entirely over.

[EDIT]Okay, there isn’t going to be a third season, unfortunately. If a third season was planned somehow, then it would already have been announced.

There’s been speculation that there won’t be a 3rd season for Tsubasa. Wouldn’t that be terrible??

  2. psgels psgels says:

Ow… that isn’t good. Still, after all the building up, it would be almost impossible for a third season not to be broadcasted. And if the creators knew about the bad sales, why didn’t they air manga-material, in order to lure viewers back?

  3. Sora says:

Really?! That would be a disaster! I got hooked on the series when a friend told me it was CLAMP’s ‘greatest work’! Is season 3 really the last season? There won’t be any more after that?

IMO, 26 episodes seem too short to finish up all the loose ends in the story… What about Fai and Kurogane’s story? We don’t even know much about Fai yet! And about Sakura’s father Clow Reed… Since that Fei Wang guy and Sakura’s father share the same family name, that means that they’re related?! How about Syaoran’s mysterious double? I wonder what that was all about… And Yuuko, too. She seems as if she knows what’s going to happen to Syaoran and the group…

Forgive me for my ramblings but I really want confirmation… It’s not just only me but I feel that most of the series’ fans would like to know as well…

  4. psgels psgels says:

Hmm, for as far as I know, the third season has neither been confirmed nor denied. I’d hate to see it getting canceled, though.

And about the huge number of lose ends… if I had to guess, then it seems that the creators will be turning up the pacing another notch, if this keeps up.

  5. BakaWawa says:

What The Hell…!!!!?? I Want To Continues Watch Leh~~~…..I Want To Know About That Fei Wang….Also The Boy Seem Same Like Syaoran!!….Who was That!!!??……Hope It Not Be Canceled And Coming Out The 3rd Series…Argh!!!!!

  6. psgels psgels says:

Heh, I feel the same. I’m dying to find out how this show will resolve. After all that time this anime spent building up, it would be a huge waste not to resolve it.

  7. Kimi says:

It would be horrible if they don’t do 3rd season ;;__;; Because I really want to see all those acts what happen in the manga on move. But I believe if they’re going to quit Tsubasa from now, they have a good reason for it u__u

  8. secret^^ says:

is there a specific date on which it will be out?? because i have been checking it everyday since april 1 and it is getting a bit annoying. ther better be a third season i gotten so into it that i cannot stop thinking about it.

  9. psgels psgels says:

Well, don’t put your hopes on Tsubasa Chronicle coming out soon. Right now, the reruns have nearly ended (they will end around the beginning of May), but when they end, Dennou Coil will be taking over its timeslot. Apart from that, we have no new news about the third season.

  10. Envie says:

Well, after going on the NHK’s TRC site (http://www3.nhk.or.jp/anime/tsubasa/index.html), it appears that there IS going to be a 3rd series. I think. Under the black writing in the top right that says 6:30-6:55, there’s some red writing that says (as much as I can read) “From the 4th of April __________”. If there wasn’t going to be a new series, they probably wouldn’t have this announcement. Unless, I suppose it’s announcing the reruns but that just seems anticlimatic. If anyone can read more japanese, could they tell me what it means? XD Arigatou in advance ^^

  11. Envie says:

Edit: 7th of April, even *blushes*

  12. psgels psgels says:

I’m not sure about the meaning, but the fact that the 7th of april has passed, with no news or no releases probably means that it’s about something completely different. Most likely the schedule of the reruns has been changed or something.

  13. psgels psgels says:

Negima: You do realize that that’s an april fool’s joke, don’t you?

  14. Evilson says:

Don’t worry about it. I will find a way to see it coming or not. If so, I will info you when I heard it. Got it. If you have the question for me, then ask me if you like.

  15. Evilson says:

Rumor of April 7th is a lie. I learned most around the end of April between the middle of May.

Here it is: I found another rumor:

Final Thoughts: This second block of episodes certainly had its ups and downs. What surprised me a little was that my favorite episodes – the ChiXFye one and the super-deformed one – came from anime-original ones. It just goes to show that they’re not all mediocre.
Assuming NTV follows their current schedule of Tsubasa reruns, episode 53 should premiere on May 12th, 2007. Hopefully the third series will be better overall. There’s some very good story coming, but we’ll have to wait until next year for the journey to continue.

  16. psgels psgels says:

That’s another rumour that’s wrong. Dennou Coil will be taking over Tsubasa’s timeslot on May 12th, which means that the series is about to be taken off the air. Also, if that rumour really was to be true, we’d have heard something about it by now.

  17. Evilson says:

Hey, Psgels. But, I did check every site (about Tsubasa Chronicles 3rd Series). It said it will start in May. I really don’t know. If it is April 29, 2007, I will find it out. you too.

  18. Da Beysta says:

So… has there been any news about the third season?

  19. psgels psgels says:

Nope. Not that I know of at least. If it were to start in may, it would have been announced already.

  20. Aska says:

I could be wrong but i do hear that CLAMP cut the ties with Bee train and there will be no third season. I’m really trying to figure out if thats true. I can’t read Japanese so I really can’t figure out if that info is on their website.

  21. Pika says:

NO! there must be a season3….I waited so long for season3…please email me if there’s any news about season3……i have been hunting high and low but i cant get anythg at all. sob sob….

  22. Oriental says:

Yeah, I’ve heard that it’s supposed to start on 12th May. It was originally supposed to start beginning of april but there was a problem between the people who made the anime happen. I don’t know much about it though. That’s what my friend who lives in Japan said.

I can’t wait to see it though, I really want to see how the story unfolds and whether there is a happy ending or not for Sakura and Syaoran. I still don’t get the bit with the two Syaoran’s though, obviously they have a plan. I can’t wait ;)

  23. Aska says:

Okay so i got a little more info on this.

they’re airing episode 26 this Saturday, May 5.

Then it says “Tsubasa Chronicle. Last chapter, the climax.” After that, on May 12, it is going to be replaced.

    Where’s the evidence you ask?

    It’s all in Japanese!
Had to ask someone if they knew what was going on..
    >.

  24. psgels psgels says:

Yeah, if there’s any time for the third season to be announced, it’s the coming saturday, after the re-airing finishes. If that isn’t the case, then there’s indeed not a lot of hope for a third season.

  25. Da Beysta says:

so… today is the day.. keep me updated plx :P

  26. psgels psgels says:

Okay, it’s May 5th, and an announcement has appeared on the website. According to babelfish, it says the following:

    “Broadcast ended. Support thank you.”

In other words, the chance of a third season coming is very unlikely. Unfortunately, the fact that Beetrain cut ties with clamp is true, and episode 52 meant the ending of this series.

I’m just going to assume that Tsubasa is over now. I don’t feel like waiting for something that might never come. It’s just a waste of enthusiasm.

  27. Da Beysta says:

    /cry

  28. Evilson says:

DAMN IT!!! I WILL GET THE REVENGE FOR THAT!!! I WANT TO SEE IT ON SEASON 3 BADLY!!! LET’S HOPE IT WILL START IN MAY 12TH, 2007.

  29. psgels psgels says:

If I may give you a tip: do not get false hope. The series won’t air on May 12th for sure, and if you continue to hope for it, it’ll only lead to disappointment. And hey, if the third season somehow does get announced, it’ll only make the enjoyment better. ;)

  30. hitzusen says:

damn. I really enjoyed the way the anime was made too. So I’m guessing xxxHOLiC anime season 2 ain’t gonna happen?
    damnit.

  31. Andrea says:

So its may 14nth did Tsubasa chronicles came out already?

  32. psgels psgels says:

    Andrea: nope, it didn’t.

  33. Chip says:

Aw man. I just went through all of season 2, telling myself that I’d be right on time for the beginning of season 3. I think that it’s pretty -bleep-ing cruel to have fillers and teasers all throughout season 2, and then never follow it up with a season full of answers. Now I’m going to have to read the whole manga from the beginning so I don’t miss anything. Gahh, I want to know more about Syaoran’s double… T____T

  34. Christine says:

Chip: Just read the manga. You’ll know info about “Syaoran’s double”.

I’m sad that there’s no third season, too. I was expected to have third season coming up in the future. I think I’ll stick reading manga because some storyline in anime is the same as manga.

  35. natalie_rae says:

    this sucks!!

the 3rd season was suppose to come out may 14th this year!

they cancelled it because of some stupid company that doesnt want an anime showing liquor or smoking to the little kids.. this aint fair to the other people, right?

    i love syaoran and sakura!
    ill miss them!
i hope that company changes their mind and show the next season to us!!
    dont u think so too?

  36. Alex says:

WHAT?! why wont there be a thrid season? there has to be a thrid season, cause they left too many fillers in the second and first seasons. too many questions, unless they expect the viewers to read the manga, which id love to if i could get to a damned library!! >

  37. Alex says:

ALSO, i heard from various sites that there will be NO MAY SHOWING AT ALL, and that they were cancelling the show all together. this really pisses me off cause they have worked so hard to get everyone off their seats, and suddenly they wanna stop production? WTH!!!

  38. psgels psgels says:

Yeah, I’m not exactly happy with it either, but supposedly Bee-Train and CLAMP got in a fight, and were forced to break connection.

  39. hui yee says:

what the y no season three and why Bee-Train and CLAMP must got a fight what happened in between

  40. tata says:

if there’s no season 3…..it means that the crew that are in charge of it is irresponsible…how come??the journey hasn’t reach the end….still so many mystery left…..That isn’T a nice ending anyway….i thing anime just Like that…aLways hav SUX ending…they end it when they want to…if so ,better not to make the anime from the beginning…always keep ppl guessing…wat a horrible stuff….

  41. Dewey says:

I’ve been patiently waiting for it to come…and for them not to complete it is not just a disappointment but also irresponsible thing…there are a lot of fans to this anime…I”m already pissed off of a lot of other animes for having abruct endings with no continuations..why don’t we have a petition for this?!

  42. Voula says:

can anybody help me? Iwill never be able to read the maga of tsubasa chronicle!! see, you are more lucky than I am, cause you have alredy read the end. In the country I live, the manga are not so popular. So I’m never going to see, read or hear about the ending. you may be more grateful about your luck!

  43. psgels psgels says:

Voula: have you tried to see whether any groups are still scanlating the manga?

  44. Kerebrus says:

If that is true than why in the anime they had said that the journey has not ended, and in the end they had mentioned that the series was going to continue but did not had an specific date in which it was going to come out but if what youll are saying is true that they cut the show That F……pisses me off.

  45. MetalMouthMary says:

So there won’t be a third season? Yeah i had figured much from youtube, oh well… I know where you can go see the manga, it’s kay? I’m sure it’ll help some people especially for english-speaking people like me. LoL.

  46. MetalMouthMary says:

Grr.. stupid thing won’t let me post urls…. darnit! oh well, you cna always search on MSn groups, trust me i ofund it there!!!

  47. Kerebrus says:

By my guess since there are releasing the seasons on the dvds that there is still a chance it might come out on the dvd since it was announced that the season 3 was coming out so they might need a new way to release this the third seasons. There are to many rumors and none of them seem to be truthfull , I wouldnt get peoples hopes up since to many rumors , but in this one website there were speaking about Tsubasa Chronicles a sort of a review and was rated 8.1. There may be a chance it may be released in the near future, Hepefully.

  48. psgels psgels says:

At the moment, there indeed are a lot of rumours, though some of them may have some truth. Let’s wait for official confirmations before jumping the gun. I think I know what you’re talking about, Kerebrus, did you mean AnimeTV? If you did, then they were just discussing the first of the Tsubasa Chronicle DVDs, so the first season. They probably didn’t even know that the current Tsubasa Chronicle is as incomplete as it is right now.

  49. Kerebrus says:

Ive seen all 52 episodes, I’d say is the best show CLAMP has come up with, for the only reason that this anime caught my attention was if Sakura would be able to remember Syaron in the end. This what go me so picked in to the show, STP witch taking the most precious memories, either way Id say it was the best anime that I’ve seen so far cause this kind of anime catch my attention it has a good storyline. Id say to many people are coming with to many conclusions when it hasn’t been announced officially I wish there was a way to email clamp like a sort of petition asking for season 3, that might work.

  50. Kerebrus says:

If any one read this, all the news that were posted that was coming out on April/May it was never confirmed correctly, well think about this when season two of TRC supposely that it wasnt coming out but it did, and Ive been seen the dates in which the seasons have been coming out and have some sort of pattern to it so maybe it may come out later, is to all who still have hope for this series, not my intention to raise false hope but is only a glimpse of light.

  51. Rubimoon says:

I dunno, this is way too shocking I’ve just watched the last episode and although it is an ok ending for the 2 season, it is a stupid ending for the whole series. In you tube I saw some videos and there was an AMV that had some parts of tsubasa I’ve never seen before. They look somehow different but there are only some parts. What the heck does this mean!? They show Sakura and Syaoran a bit more gorwn up. I know this might not make sense but are those parts from tsubasa at all? and if they are, why havent I seen them although I have seen the whole of 52 episodes and I never saw those parts. I am not trying to make people false hopes, but isn’t it a bit strange…I would really like someone to reply to that please!

  52. Hinode says:

@Rubimoon … it’s a guess since I haven’t seen the AMV you’re referring but maybe those scenes are from the movie ..

  53. psgels psgels says:

Great news, my speculations were wrong: an OVA has been announced. Go to
    http://psgels.net/2007/06/12/tsubasa-chronicle-ova/
    for more information.

  54. Raja Ikwan Hariz says:

i konw that tsubasa chronicles season3
    but when?
maybe next year o some thing dis yer
i wan to watch the next episode
    on season 3
in season 2 i have to on Animax

  55. psgels psgels says:

Unfortnately, it’s still a question whether season three will come. It’ll all depend on how well the OVAs, that will be coming this autumn sell.

  56. jessthebest says:

ive just watched the last ep of season two and im really deperessed with the whole there wont be a season three. I heard that CLAMP wont make it cause the broadcasting of Japan wont support them so they dun have enough money. Its around 50K for one ep. But that is just what someone said in a doodad XD.
but either way its still depressing
    XP
Anyway does anyone know what chapter the manga has on the anime episode 52??

  57. Creator says:

WHAT THE HECK I see many anime doesn’t end -_- I realy hate it. why does it end at episode 52 that realy short like XXXHolic end about 20+
    Darn it
What chapter does episode 52 D; send me some information by email :[

  58. none says:

    there is no more
    Tsubasa Chronicle

  59. psgels psgels says:

Like I said, my speculations are wrong, and there’s going to be an OVA somewhere in autumn.

  60. Caitlin says:

my guess at why they aren’t doing a 3rd season is because. Sakura lost so many feathers which means she lost a lot of memories. and they probably won’t be able to fit all the answers to the mysteries while having them collect all the feathers in just 26 episodes. it sucks. i do wish they would finish the series.
i just l♥v the series. i really wish they would finish the series.

  61. ash says:

WHAT ? no season 3 !? thats horrible ! i mean .. its like hanging in the air.. swts ==”
But the manga is nice though =PP

  62. blue-jay says:

I think there will be a 3rd season;shaoran’s double hasn’t came out yet, fai’s past is still unknown, and sakura’s secret mysterious powers are still “mysterious”, so I really don’t think they are just going to end it right there.

I think shaoran’s double is just part of shaoran, except it’s the evil side of him…….

  63. all about tsubasa says:

i don’t think there will be any season 3 ,but the comics is still in print. The syaoran who was travelling with the group all the while was a clone created by Fei Wong. The real syaoran is the one captured by Fei Wong

  64. all about tsubasa says:

the sad thing is sakura never remembered syaoran

  65. all about tsubasa says:

If you read the comics,Fai is actually the prince of another country, brought to celes country by the king.(fai’s past is sort of sad,if you read the comics)

  66. bubbleman says:

there’s a trailer of the OVA on youtube.com

  67. jenny says:

Where can you read the manga? and what chapter is after the anime finishes?

  68. all about tsubasa says:

u can read the comics at http://www.onemanga.com

  69. George1234 says:

A OVA of tsubasa chronicle has been announced. These episodes are not Season 3. They addiction episode which explain some thing (about syarans eye , I dream that sakura saw and something else. The OVA series is name Tokyo Revelations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsubasa:_Reservoir_Chronicle
scroll till you find a headline name “Tokyo Revelations”

  70. Heyyyyy says:

They shud of made Shaoran n others fly around n gather as many feathers as possible in the end. That would have saved some time.

  71. Anni says:

http://www.tvrage.com/shows/id-2423/episodes/572857/3×01 Check this website out and can you confirm if the 3rd season is actually going to come out in 3 days?? (well japan i mean) I don’t know who’s right and who’s wrong anymore X____x I hope this site is right though (I’d jump up and down for about a week) =)

  72. Windspirit says:

The Magician’s Message is actually the first OVA’s title.
The OVAs are NOT 3rd season, they’re 3 OAVs animated by a totally different studio in a totally different style (in a more shonen-like style, without insert songs, epic music, still-frames to build up the atmosphere, etc., everything that made me LURVE the Bee Train seasons, in short) meant to adapt the manga’s chapters 107-135.

And, oh God, they totally FUCKED X’s cast. And Subaru has’t appeared yet. T____T

  73. Haven says:

Sry those who like Syoron…But i want to said,Chaos is really cool!!!I like his hair!!!I’m learning how to draw this Chaos guy.But i don’t like this Chaos in Tsubasa Chronicle..He is very mean!

  74. KEA says:

I LOVE tsubasa! Did you noticed that through out the series {in the manga and anime} that in the manga there was some worlds that are not in the anime and that there are some worlds in the anime that are not in the manga?Well I did. If you have been reading/watching the manga/anime then you would have noticed by now. ^_^

    P.S. SPOILER ALERT!!

In the manga and OAV there is the apperince of 2, and may I repeat this again, 2 Syaron’s in the story! One of them was a clone(the one from The Kingdom of Clow)! I know its shocking, trust me on this,I was shocked too! Later on you can read the story about Fai’s past too!(who is also half VAMPIRE now!)They go to Fai’s homeland(thats where they learn about his past)they also go to Karogane’s homeland too(after his arm was chopped off too as I might add). This is in CHAPTiRE 174 in the manga, but Clone Syaron comes and battels it out with the Original Syaron while Sakura (as usual) is dead asleep.
No need to thank me about giving theese valuable spoilers that are not out in English yet,but your welcome anyways!^_^
    BYE!:D

  75. Sesshys Lover says:

about the 3rd season… if the OVAs (Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations) is a successful then Production I.G (who made the OVAs) will consider about the offer to do the 3rd season..

  76. manga & anime lover says:

another spoiler-there was another Sakura, the one that was following the group all the while was another clone made by Fei Wong.Read chapter 178 & 179 at http://www.onemanga.com to find out more…

  77. iRISH jOY says:

I hope this will featered in Animax.

  78. Trenton says:

HOW COULD THERE NOT BE A THIRD SEASON. I stared watching this anime like a 2 weeks ago, and became instantly hooked. The viewers need to know what is going to happen.

  79. Angelica says:

Please send seasone 3 of tsubasa chronicle before it’s to late plz

  80. Aish says:

OMG say what! i’m dying to watch tsubasa and i’ve been reading about the episodes and now there’s not gonna be a third season? Your kidding me ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, please please let their be a thrid season!

  81. milfa-eun says:

iF tsubasa Chronicles wouldnt be having a 3rd season, how could an anime fan like me wait that long. they wanted us to wait?! my goSh, can there be no 3rd season without me knowing hus the guy who had syaoran’s whole being, and whats with his eyes??.. i had a bunch of questions in my mind,
    when?

  82. micah elinor says:

awww……. i want the 3rd season to be aired already

  83. Roberto says:

I have just finished the two seasons of Tsubasa chronicles as well as Tsubasa Chronicles Tokyo Revelations and Tsubasa Shunraiki. This series turned out to be the best anime I have ever seen. If they do not end it I would be most irritated. However…we must not give up, just like Sharoan.

  84. Shane says:

these episode are awesome and i hope they continue with a 3rd series because it would really be disappointing to everyone and even me as a person who loves watching these episodes of Tsubasa as well.
So Let They Be More Episodes!!!!!

  85. Nikoru says:

I agree this series was amazing!! I wish they would contiune the show to a third season so many unanwser questions. Now that I have watched all the anime Im on to the manga and I hope the comics will conclude completely through I want to understand and know if Syoaran will save Sakura and was the little Sakura a clone too? Why didnt Yukito and her brother know or did they? When was she captured to make the clone? Arg so crazy XD I

  86. Noelia says:

I’m so upset that I cannot find episode 53! I really want to know the rest of everything. Syaoran, Sakura, Fay, Kurogane; I gotta find out! I cant watched the subbed episodes. I’m terrible with japanese! Please produce TRC dubbed!!!! I’m beggin ya!

@KTravlos: it ends well, doesn't it? My, my, can't wait to watch it tonight :)

Just finished Nier Automata myself.
Little confused as to what exactly I should be feeling.

And thus ACCA 13 comes to an end. A truly exceptional series imho.

Just finished Rage of Bahamut and I have to say I didn't expect an emotional climax. Also Rita is the best in show here. But really I don't see the prospect of sequel, especially a 24-episodes one.
Anonymous967177
Evidently so. That still feels just wrong. He's sort of her father. Ehhhh

Aldnoah needed actually interesting characters and character arcs instead of boring assholes. Why does it need more time on the lore when it's just generic scifi jib
SuperMario
One minor thing that baffled me beside *that* in Rakugo was they don't show Konatsu's rakugo in the end. It makes more sense if we can see her perform, but I understand that the show have to put new rakugo material and that was impposible.
SuperMario
@Aidan: I think *that twist* is sweet (not). Points for the show for having a balls to address that, but...
AidanAK47
And that's Rakugo finished. A delayed finale but non the less a satisfying one....Though on the matter of *that* I am going full head canon and pretending it didn't happen. Because HELL FUCKING NO.
HelghastKillzone
Troyca's Aldnoah.Zero was 24 eps long but it really needed 50 to flesh out concepts and lore.

Apparently, Virgin is going to be 24 episodes and Re:creators is 22 eps long. I don't know how to feel about that.

Catching up with Rage of Bahamoth myself. Say I really enjoy what I see so far. Characters are its weakest part and pacing is uneven, but everything else work quite well

... Feherlofia is Hungarian one. But I have a really fond feeling towards Soviet and those ex-communist animation. Movies as well

@Topgavin: wuah your love with Madoka. I was like watching that show for 3 times, but Rebellion just once. I still think that Rebellion adds up to the series narratively. Shaft (be themselves) put a lots of extra background details to the Bluray version, so I'm sure you can't go wrong watching Madoka on Bluray.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Guess I'm just in the mood for some comfycore anime. =)
Kaiser-Eoghan
There's really stuff I need to get round to watching like alderman and chain chronicle, giving utawerumono's s2 another chance, watching those dumb old golgo ovas, catching up on Shamo and city hunter where I left off.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: If you are looking for something to review for the world animation project, I recommend Fehérlófia , a Soviet era psychadelic folktale animation. Also look into the available short animations by Alexander Petrov (he uses a style of animation which mixes oil painting on glass).
Konstantinos Travlos
Finished watching Chain Chronicle :Light of Hacchetias (TV version). While not something to write home about it was not bad. It did a tried old recipe well.
Lenlo
@SuperMario, we dont have to, but its fun to try and pinpoint the real-world timeline to the shows timeline.

@Topgavin, oh yeah. Madoka is amazing.
Topgavin
Just finished watching the Madoka Magica series, 4th rewatch but 1st time on blurays. The show is such a work of art, and I was surprised by the sheer quality of the backgrounds in the blurays. It looked 3x as expensive to make as the normal show, Shaft must've poured a lot of money into post-screening editing.
SuperMario
They are all just average shows to be honest, but at least they're deserved to have full reviews.
SuperMario
and just an update for readers, I intend to give full reviews on shows that I followed but haven't covered here, starting from this seasons. The verdicts are: Seiren, Demi-chan, Dragon Maid and Hand Shakers
SuperMario
Do we really need to know all the historical context to enjoy/ appreciate Tanya? I think making a comparison does have influence in your expectation of the show in later events.
Lenlo
But this is all from wiki articles, since the last time I actually studied WW1 & 2 was in highschool. So im alittle rough on the subject :P
Lenlo
I thought, time-wise, we were past WW1, but this was in reference to how Germany at the end of WW1 was defeated, but not destroyed, which allowed them to rebuild enough to start WW2. You know, that famous quote "This is not peace, this is an Armstice for 20 years".

Thought it was a reversal of that.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: Just one more note on silent voice, only one of those three omitted subplots I felt worth taking issue with, they leave out a couple scenes that flesh out Shoko's mother more.
AidanAK47
@Helgast, while that fairly obviously hinted at, don't spoil future events.
HelghastKillzone
@Lenlo We are way past the stalemate of WW1 and onto this anime's interpretation of the Battle of Dunkirk. Season Two is gonna be fighting against the Brits, Americans, the French Resistance and the Soviets.
Lenlo
I did some reading up, since WW1 & 2 arnt the points in history im really into, and I get her anger now. If they get a second season, possible time skip to WW2 because of it?

The episode was great btw, she just seemed to come out relatively unscathed for what she went through
AidanAK47
@Lenlo, It annoyed me that she got injured but then magically healed within the next scene but otherwise I loved the episode. It may be difficult to grasp in the show but if you know your history then you would realise just why Tanya was so bent out of shape. In truth this was Tanya's first major loss. One that renders her previous victories utterly worthless.
AidanAK47
@Anon, Your gonna have to elaborate on that "Most." When it comes to the three shows I was covering this season I thought I was praising them quite a bit. Only thing really bothering me is Rakugo stretching out it's ending. Otherwise this is one of the best seasons of anime I have seen in quite a while.
SuperMario
Hell yeahh, OwariMonogatari will air next Summer season. I'm hyped. Thank you Shaft
SuperMario
But it's good to hear your opinions on that. Like you said, honest opinion is good so I hope to hear more from reader's comments
SuperMario
@Anon958618: We writers are here to give you readers our personal impressions, and of course if we don't like a show we'd give the reasons why we don't like it, we can't really say otherwise if we found an episode to be sub-par. Personally, I have nothing but praise on my posts to the point I think I have to be stricter :)
Anonymous958618
I used to like reading this blog, but I find that most of the posts now are overly negative. Although I think honest opinion is good, it's a bit of a turn off in my opinion for readers...
Lenlo
Its nice to see everyone grown up in Rakugo. Old Yotaro and Konatsu. Also, how in the heck is Matsuda stil alive. That man was old when Yakumo was young. Finally, people need to stop telling that story if its gonna haunt everyone, I mean jeez.
SuperMario
It's Tanya for me next ^^
SuperMario
It ends happily. But go and see the twist. They make it like the most natural thing of all
Lenlo
Watchin Rakugo next. It end well?
Lenlo
Tanya disappointed me alittle. There was a change to actually hurt Tanya, but nope, she still comes out of it unharmed. She hurt herself more when she blew herself up than when someone else blew her up. Least shes seemingly drunk on war.
SuperMario
so sad to see Rakugo end... And that little twist. How can they make that twist so poetic?
SuperMario
@Lenlo: me & Kaiser? We were talking about the movie Koe to Katachi/ A Silent Voice
Lenlo
I must have missed something, because I have no idea idea what is being talked about.
SuperMario
@Kaiser: I purposely put off the manga so I could watch the movie with fresh perspective. 2 weeks until we have a screening here
SuperMario
@kaiser: woah, thanks Kaiser. I know packaging a 6-volume manga into a feature film means they have to cut quite a lot of subplots, I just hope the main plot is going to be rewarding
Kaiser-Eoghan
Actually, there aren't that many manga that portray disabled characters, not even hentai.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: One of the people I got talking to after the film talked about Clannad and we both laughed about "what if Lars van Trier worked at Key"
Kaiser-Eoghan
Rakugo you are now on hold again until you end.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: I look forward to your review of it.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: There were, because I talked to the audience afterwards and looked around, people who weren’t familiar with anime there, so it does have a wider appeal.
While cheesy/melodramatic obviously its nonetheless heartfelt and well executed.
Kaiser-Eoghan
The voice actress for Shoko is required to well, I can only call it deaf-voice-talk and she pulls it off quite well, it’s never cringy or forced.
Comparatively to other anime dealing at any point with bullying this does fare better and because it’s animated by kyoani, visually it’ll catch interest. The protaganists regret and redemption story still remains a very watchable one/theme.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: Putting a voice on Kawai and Ueno will make you rage at them more.
While I didn’t think it was too bad/overly used, you’re going to have to do with the maudlin piano score Kyoani gives it.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: At 130 minutes it’s a little lengthy, especially for an anime film, there is the feeling of attempting to stuff in the manga, three subplots at least have been removed/shortened yet at the same time despite the skipping in parts it does still feel long/aimless. Based on that I did feel it flows better in manga format.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: @Mario: I just came home from seeing koe to katachi/silent voice. Can't really say enough to fill a review, but it gets the general 3 1/2 out of 5 from me.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Warning the next few posts contain words words words:
Kaiser-Eoghan
But I can take or leave Kaiju stuff.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Wheras Mothra was the most fun.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Aside from that, I've seen a few Godzilla films, Mothra vs Godzilla, shin Godzilla, Garth Edwards Godzilla, 90s American Godzilla and original 50s, the 90s one has aged horribly, the recent American one felt more faithful, the 50s one and the new Japanese one feel most socially relevent.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Wait...whah, why'd I get logged out I registered =<
AidanAK47
I previously had no interest in a Godzilla Anime film. But after reading the concept here I am now very very interested: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-03-24/godzilla-anime-film-reveals-full-title-story-new-visual-november-premiere/.113863
SuperMario
@Kaiser: they are still around. And believe it or not the actual band members are Damon Albarn (former lead singer of Blur) taking care of all the music and Jamie Hewlett who taking of the animation. I love alternative music, I can enjoy hip-hop music and I'm a fan of animation => this band basically has everything I personally love
Anonymous956164
@Mario: Kaiser here, posting from public computer. I had no idea the gorillaz were still around, many years ago I would have listened to their Clint Eastwood song, aswell as dirty harry and feel good inc, I also remember the artstyle of their videos catching my attention.
SuperMario
Anyone here listen to Gorillaz? They're one of my favorite band and their new song Saturnz Barz is great. Excited for their coming album now
Kaiser-Eoghan
I guess I'm considering blood blockade also because I'm burnt out o demanding and old films to some extent.
SuperMario
@Kaiser: I really enjoyed the first season of Blockade. It's one of those cases where I think the delayed of the last episode killed all the exciment regarding the show. I actually fall behind and then catched up again as soon as the last episode was out so I enjoyed everything so much more
SuperMario
@Aidan: makes me really wonder why some of the studios are very uptight about their show's details. Like, they have to know if it is a short series or not, right.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Yet its not exactly a show that fits into being my thing.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Blood blockade battlefront is one of those shows that is always in the back of my head, despite negative biasI managed to at least enjoy some of gungrave, I grew up, sort of with trigun, so with blockade having Yuji Nightow involved theres always that part of me that says to watch blood blockade battlefront.
AidanAK47
This is one of the annoying things about previews. You got o the trouble of looking it up and writing on it only for it to get delayed or turn out to be a short series.
SuperMario
ohh, Blood Blockade Battlefront moves back to October airing. I might have a chance to cover it after all. Though look at how it gets delay and the change of director, it yells more concerns than optimism
AidanAK47
Yep, Manga is completed at 6 Volumes. But it's kinda weird that the series managed to cover 6 volumes when it's so slow paced. I normally thought that 5 to 6 episodes was needed to cover a manga volume on average.
SuperMario
@anon954341: ACCA will finish in 1 cour, as the manga is already completed and from what I heard episode 11 & 12 cover the last 5 chapters of the manga.
Anonymous954341
is Acca 13's story going to finish in 1 cour, or is it still ongoing?
Kaiser-Eoghan
Honestly do wonder how much longer anime blogging will be a thing and how much they have to compete with popular youtuber's channels.
Kaiser-Eoghan
I once had some idea of doing a forum with a friend, it never went anywhere.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Aidan gave good advice anon, I still found old posts from when I was teenager archived somewhere online and it made me facepalm.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Eh, I wanted to throw myself into Mario and your conversation about personalities by talking about myself, force of habit.
AidanAK47
@Kaiser, Not sure what this rambling is about but good for you...I guess?
AidanAK47
@Anon, Blogs take a lot of work for very little in return. I wouldn't try starting one unless you are ready to make a huge commitment. Besides at your age(Based on that comment) it would be best to not put too much on the internet. The internet never forgets and it can come back to haunt you later in life.
Kaiser-Eoghan
The reason I bring some of this up is because I think that even if someone isn't the most emotional person out there, they shouldn't ignore/bash on certain shows/genres because of that, even if you don't get feelings out of it, the story/drama/characters could still be worthwhile.
Kaiser-Eoghan
I do think getting pissed off though is much easier irl than doing it online where it doesn't bother me as much.
Kaiser-Eoghan
And it surprises me alot that I followed so many romance manga years ago, enjoyed them, but I've never been a romantic person irl at all.
Kaiser-Eoghan
I also hate incompetence/failure and am generally not especially patient.
Kaiser-Eoghan
I care about others and appearances mainly to extent it either is of benefit, if I have to or it avoids hassle.
Kaiser-Eoghan
People tend to think I'm cold, articulate, blunt irl too.
Kaiser-Eoghan
I'm not a sentimental or passionette/emotional person irl, I don't like wasting time with other peoples shit and don't bother with it, avoid looking at people or touching them physically, talk in long dry speeches and in general come off as a quiet, reserved but snarky/cynical person.
Kaiser-Eoghan
I probably unknowingly come off as different on this site than I would irl.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Honestly I'd veer towards depressing or surreal/strange/messed up work more out of just wanting to see weird and depressing stuff happen and little else, just interests me, I can't remember the last time I cried.
Anonymous953782
um i wanted to make my own blog but it wants a email but i dont want my parents finding out
AidanAK47
It is weird how we never clash on what we want to cover on each season. Anyway I need someone to contrast my egotisical self so it's all good.
SuperMario
haha, Aidan: heartless grumpy monster & Mario: sentimental sappy bloke. Readers, you got yourself quite an odd combination of writers here.
Anonymous951955
We'll see; trailers can give false impressions
Anonymous951955
Not that all changes from source adaptations are terrible, but in this case, at least the trailer makes it look pretty bad.
Anonymous951955
It looks not great; I understand the need to change it a bit to suit the format/audience, but at what point does it turn from adaption to "loosely based on"?
HelghastKillzone
I'm glad we're past the phase of moe club shows.
AidanAK47
@Helghast, now that's something I never thought I would hear.
HelghastKillzone
Hell ya. We are in a golden age of anime that is filled with options and quality.
Anonymous951809
What a great week! Iron Blooded Orphans, Onihei, Little Witch Academia and ACCA 13 all had great episodes! I am spoiled!
Anonymous950847
@Anon and @Aikan

The LoGH manga remake has been out. It did not work for me.

I hope he anime goes its own way. I do trust Production IG, so I hope. I think it might not be this year. No lgoic, just a hunch.
AidanAK47
@Anon, Only info I can find is that it's coming out this year and it will be by Production IG. But I think you are right in that if it;s coming this year it will definitely be winter.
Feeling rather cautious about the remake myself. LoGH is dated visually but in a way it is a product of it's time and things you could forgive in the old version wouldn't be so forgivable in the new.
Anonymous949997
Does anybody know when that LoGH readaptation is coming? It's supposed to be this year right? Probably winter right?
SuperMario
But I will give it a full review anyways because all the amount of time I spent in that series should be paid off somehow, right?
Kaiser-Eoghan
But serious Gohands is a studio that had potential its just a shame its wasted on rubbish writers. Although I did like mardock scramble, because cyberpunk =)
Kaiser-Eoghan
If I met handshakers in public I'd refuse to shake its hand =D
SuperMario
Oh, it's actually just an extra Hand Shakers episode that serves as a prequel story. Not that bad then
SuperMario
Not to disregard Hand Shakers, but the best way to describe how I feel about that series is mind-numbing
Kaiser-Eoghan
They tried with that Military guy and his daughter but not by much.
Kaiser-Eoghan
But I do agree that there needs to be more to the characters, right now its JUST Tanya.
Kaiser-Eoghan
As for Tanya, having caught up with it, its a nice trashy guilty pleasure, especially due to the protagonist and I enjoy the setting because I'm a war film fan and like some of the action/politicking. I still do wish it was aesthetically a bit better. The dub isn't that bad and I'd welcome a second season.
Kaiser-Eoghan
In an ideal world Kino's journey would have been a good model for what light novel adaptations can be and SHOULD be.
Kaiser-Eoghan
If we must have more light novel adaptations, I would prefer them to be like Tanya, Muvluv, okay hardly breathtaking, but still better than that thing Aidan linked.
Lenlo
*Sigh* It looks exactly how I imagined it would and its terrible.
Lenlo
Please dont tell me thats an actual title.
AidanAK47
In another world with my smart phone light novel to get an anime.

Oh my god...This literally sounds like a joke title you would see within an anime. Tried giving it an honest chance by reading it and it's just shit. Just pure terrible.
AidanAK47
If people in Japan are actually buying blurays thinking its a good show then something is seriously wrong with the world.
AidanAK47
@Topgavin, maybe too many people watched it because it was so terrible. I haven't watched past episode 1 but it doesn't sound like it improved.
Topgavin
Just incase you guys were avidly waiting for the announcement, Hand Shakers is getting a prequel season because it's apparently selling well......
SuperMario
Should be happy for it, though I'm a bit disappointed that I can't be able to cover it
SuperMario
Inside Mari gets live-action series adaptation. Why not anime?? Duh
Spike
Little Witch Academia finally tips it's hand on the overall plot! I'm pretty pleased and think some direction might help bump it up from just being 'good' overall.
HelghastKillzone
@KTravlos Still watching it week by week and I'll write up a review on the second season of Iron-Blooded when it ends.
Kaiser-Eoghan
@Mario: It is however the kind of anime film that would have the wide audience appeal though, as in anime for people who don't watch anime.
SuperMario
@Kaiser: just prove that people has paid attention to anime. That's an encouraging sign actually
Kaiser-Eoghan
Feck, silent voice was booked out when I got there just now....should have booked in advance, showing at 7:00 on Friday booking it now.
SuperMario
@KTravlos: I haven't, but that more because I'm not a big fan of Mecha genre. I believe one of our writer HelghastKillzone still follow the series
KTravlos
No idea, if you are all still watching MS Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. I am, and while the 2nd Season toned down some of the elements that made the 1st Season good, it is still pretty good with the last episode doing a great job. If it keeps it, it definitely is head to head with Turn A Gundam for my favorite long-form Gundam Series (I am doing Gundam Origins for the original story)
Lenlo
Mhmm. It was one of those shows it weave adult themes into a kids show, so it had something for both. Now I can also appreciate the artstyle that doesnt use hard black outlines for everything.
AidanAK47
If anything I get so much more out of Samurai Jack now than when I watched it as a kid.
Lenlo
Love that dude Aidan. And yes Kaiser, I think anyone get enjoy it now. I love that its back, but even without that its easily standing on its own
Kaiser-Eoghan
How much of this love of samurai jack is a nostalgia driven thing? I'm not knocking that nostalgia but would it be possible to get something out of the show now if I never watched it when I was younger?
Lenlo
Yeah, that conversation was great. Really shows you how messed up hes become. Its also amazing when you realize that was the last set of spoken dialogue in the episode. There was not a single word uttered in the second half.
Kaiser-Eoghan
The audience who enjoyed samurai Jack has grown up, them bringing up seppuku and blood is possibly a part of that.
AidanAK47
Scene with the coffins was awesome as was the fight in the dark. My personal favorite part of the episode though was Jack arguing with his old design self. And young jack suggesting committing seppuku made my eyebrows raise. I mean..damn.
Lenlo
I agree Aidan. That quick shot of Jack vs the Daughter, with the sudden blood, suprised me as much as it did Jack. I really loved the scene with the coffins. The music nad sound was just great there.
AidanAK47
@Lenlo, It was a really great episode. I love the meta of Jack being worn down by the wait and the wait the viewers had to endure for the new season. I is rather odd seeing blood in Samurai Jack though but it does make that particular moment have so much more impact.
Topgavin
April 16th for NZ. It is a lesser known movie than Kimi no na wa though, so I do wonder how available it's going to be in cinemas
Lenlo
This second episode of Jack was really just amazing. Its making full use of the new budget/tech for the art and of the new rating, along with the impact the timeskip would have on Jack. The cinematography was superb as well.
SuperMario
@Kaiser: Koe ko machi will creen in Aussie in the beginning of April as well. I'll go to watch it; but I would love to jear your thoughts on the movie.
Kaiser-Eoghan
There is a preview screening of koe to kachi on Monday night, depending I may go, I may review it or at least talk about it on here.
Kaiser-Eoghan
I'm dying waiting for the Blame! anime film adaptation to come out in May. I've wanted an adaptation for years.
Kaiser-Eoghan
And I'm too much of a cheap-ass to actually buy anything, don't even use legal streaming for films or anime/manga/comics, pirate almost everything.
Kaiser-Eoghan
Or shelves for that matter.

Little Witch Academia – 12[What You Will]

I did expect to see the episodic stories return in some fashion but at least the story development from last week is still going. This week Akko is transformed into Diana by a mirror that looks to have some connection to Woodward. I worry that Akko may be falling into the same trap as the […]

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu – 25

Thus Rakugo draws to it’s final conclusion and it is rather refreshing to see a genuine conclusive ending in anime, This is a lot rarer than it should be as most anime leave you hanging for another season that may never come or just wrap up things haphazardly leaving it with a unsatisfying conclusion. However […]

Saga of Tanya the Evil – 11[Resistance]

Studio Nut really must be hurting as this week starts off with a two minute recap of the last episode but what made this episode special is that for the first time, Tanya lost. The start of this episode at least had Ansen pay that check of giving Tanya a hard time. In particular I […]

Scum’s Wish – 11 [A Kind God]

It’s strange, for a show that almost certainly make viewers furious one way or another, be it totally love it or hate it; I remain indifferent for last couple of episode. The thing is, I can’t ship this Akane – Narumi relationship, because I’ve witnessed this kind of relationship in real life before and it […]

Little Witch Academia – 11[Blue Moon]

I don’t mind the lighthearted shenanigans of Little Witch Academia but in my opinion it’s episodes like this that will truly make the show memorable. After ten episodes of mere hints as to the state of magic and it’s history we get a truckload of answers. Why is magic being considered antiquated? Because magic is […]

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu – 24

When I started this season of Rakugo I was under the impression that this would be Konatsu’s and Yotaro’s story seeing as Yakumo’s had reached it’s end. However to my dismay it appeared that halfway through the season Yakumo has hijacked the series. I previously stated that the story of Rakugo has already ended with […]

Saga of Tanya the Evil – 10[Path to Victory]

What am I to say when the majority of the episode is detailing a military operation? I admit that content has become spare in this series as of late and the Tanya vs God battle has more or less been pushed to the sideline. Tanya had one moment here where it looked like her mission […]

ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. – 11 [Furawau’s Flowers Smell of Malice]

Really ACCA? Only one episode left and you’re still in set-up stage, with the coup is lingering in the air, but never comes in real form. In fact, ACCA is a series about setting up. Its deliberate pacing can really test the viewer’s’ patience, and I totally understand if most of you have fallen out […]

3-gatsu no Lion – 22 [New School Term – Fighter]

We get to an end of 3-gatsu run but it feels more like a new beginning. Like what I feared last week the last episode doesn’t really have a conclusive ending, instead offers us the new semester of Rei and his childhood and his shogi, which in all fairness are the weaker parts of 3-gatsu. […]

Demi-chan wa Kataritai (Winter 2017) Review – 58/100

Demi-chan is one of the newest addition to the monster girl subgenre, which usually feature a human helpless male lead get stuck in a harem of mythical creatures, in form of oversized boob girls of course (why usually those monsters are in female forms anyways? Aren’t they sexless?). In this case, we have monster girls […]

Seiren (Winter 2017) Review – 51/100

Let me say this out front, Seiren is NOT a good show, it’s a highly uneven one. Throughout its run, I can see some solid moments and fresh ideas that could potentially raise it above the bar, but ultimately, view it as a whole, Seiren is a show that isn’t worth recommending. At first, I’m […]

Flip Flappers (Fall 2016) Review – 93/100

What makes Flip Flappers stand out from the rest of the anime field? I found a lot of people asking that question along the way. Well, first off, Flip Flappers isn’t your ordinary anime offering, that’s for sure. Its visual styles are too much and too incoherent for one thing, the narrative never really reveal […]

Sound! Euphonium 2 (Fall 2016) Review – 86/100

I must admit that out of all the series I was blogging last year, Sound Eupho 2 was the one I’m saddest to see it ends; not because it was my absolute favorite anime last year, but because the sheer amount of their attention to details and their ridiculously quest for perfection are something that […]

Fune wo Amu (Fall 2016) Review – 81/100

This series is, in retrospect, a really appropriate title that speaks to the very spirit of noitaminA block: an adult drama slice of life about the making of dictionary that surely don’t try to target the young audiences. Sound as dry as it is, Fune wo Amu’s actually one of the strongest noitaminA show come […]

Your name. (2016) Movie Review – 82/100

As of this writing, Kimi no Na wa, or Your name. has enjoyed a phenomenal commercial and critical success. It becomes the highest grossing film of the year in Japan, and broke many records elsewhere in Thailand, China, America… you name it. Even in the local theatre where I went to, we got a full […]

Occultic;Nine Review – 0/100

I am certain this may seem like an extreme rating for some but the number scale always has been something I only carried over as part of psgels format. But this rating exemplifies my feelings about this show in its entirety. This show is awful, terrible, rage inducing, illogical, nonsensical garbage. Watching this show was […]

Magical Girl Raising Project Review – 65/100

In the success of Madoka there have been plenty who have tried to capitalize on turning the Magical girl genre dark.
