That first half of the episode was just amazing. The dialogue between Yasako and Isako was just right, and I actually cried when Isako started to break down. Yasako really tried to comfort Isako in the way she would speak to Kyoko, whenever she’s scared. When Kyoko arrived, and asked Isako to save Densuke, she only made things even better.

The rest of the episode built up for the final few episodes of this series. We get a few confirmations of things that the observant ones among us probably already figured out: Nekome and Takeru are brothers, Takeru is the owner of the pink cat with ears, and he basically betrayed Isako out of jealousy towards his brother. I’ve also been reading a few posts from animesuki, and it seems that the reason why Nekome has access to the stronger versions of the Sacchis is because he works for the government, and can basically use them as he pleases.

Also, Densuke indeed is no ordinary dog. I couldn’t catch the details due to my lack of Japanese, but there actually is a chance for both Yasako’s grandfather as 4423’s brother to be alive. Yasako’s grandfather also seemed to know about 4423 before both of them disappeared. The final parts of the episode basically consist out of a chase for Densuke, after Nekome found out that he’s important somehow I must say that it was awesome to see Daiichi in action again. From what I understood is that Densuke is the key to access Coil’s domain, which is what I suspect to be the place where the humanoid illegals live. Hence why both Yasako and Kyoko encountered them.

What’s also interesting is how Nekome refers to Yasako as “sensei”, and how a password to some of the guy’s secret stuff is located inside Nekome’s database. Does this mean that Yasako’s grandfather used to work for the same company that Nekome is working for?

“but there actually is a chance for both Yasako’s grandfather as 4423’s brother to be alive.”

    -gasp!

Of course I meant 4423 himself… not his brother. :P

Still, this is speculation, basically since the one who told Isako that 4423 is dead wasn’t the most trustworthy source (being Takeru and all).

  3. r3dking says:

Nekome didn’t seem to be having much luck in trying to control the black automatons. He may have access to the system, but he’s not in control. He’s got his own agenda, though he may be trying to leverage a connection to the legal bureau to pursue it.

Yasako’s grandfather was a doctor in the MegaMass hospital, and was treating the first round of Coil victims. We knew that already, at least by implication. We didn’t know that 4423 was a medical case code, however. I wonder who the other case codes belong to.

Sheer speculation: Takome may himself have been one of the earlier coil victims saved by Yasako’s grandfather. He’s suspicious that MegaMass may have had a direct role in his doctor’s death, and has been trying to use Isako’s imago ability to try to track down his old doctor in the Coil Domain. Note that he didn’t even know about Yasako before this episode; if he had, he probably would have tried to work through her also, or instead. I’m guessing he’ll join the rest of the gang now, and the common enemy will be MegaMass.

Given that Yasuko’s father, grandfather, uncles, and various other older family members have MegaMass connections, she could probably pick up a lot of information by just asking. But it’s perfectly believable that it doesn’t occur to her.

    - really need to tell me where you download this series (or do you directly get it from the corp?)

  5. r3dking says:

wao points out that the very first episode shows the 4423 medical code on the folder in the background, in the scene where Yasako first opens the package from her grandfather containing the Dennou glasses. So it’s like a good mystery story! They introduce the necessary clues early on, before you know to look for them. Now I have to go back and re-watch all the earlier episodes to see what else they may have left a clue for.

The biggest mystery for me is Isako’s background. Where did she learn to code? Where did she get her non-standard pets? Is she related to Yasako through some family connection, such that she might have got a gift from Yasako’s grandfather also?

  6. Sandor Arbitrary Intelligence says:

The very first series indeed shows many things, Nekome and Tamako appear as well =)

As far as I got it, Densuke and Isako’s Mojos are mentioned as “Coils life” and are probably a kind of real artificial life (unlike normal, simulated pets – automatons and petmatons) based on the same coil effect.

There was another name mentioned in the argument between Takeru and Nekome (even more siblings? Don’t tell me Isako will be related to someone too, she’s supposed ot be the lonely char here!) of someone who seems to be in control of those low-level format black automatons >_> Man, theyre scary. And their ability to transfer physical pain sensation back to a target’s via their imago doesn’t look like a space maintenance function, more like asassianation utility. Anyway, Megamass seems to be quite a shady illuminati-type organisation.

  7. hssc says:

    So… Isako has brother-complex, huh?

My respect for her is now transforming into sappy sympathy… she needs to shape up again

I am beginning to do a write up of next season’s preview and currently doing the research. So far next season isn’t looking good with not many interesting titles.
When I get something decent made up I will send it out to all you guys to make comments or add your two cents.

Oh Sure, I will play the easy newcomer version birthright. And after that I will have a scented bath, a nice pedicure and spend the night watching the notebook and sex in the city. Like a pansy.
Well jokes aside I will be playing birthright first because I am a completion is and I play things in order. But you bet your ass I bought conquest retail.

@Aidan Oh, I wasn’t complaining about the price, I got Conquest & Birthright off a friend for $35. I was complaining about rather how impersonal the decision feels in the overall story, and in terms of narrative one of those games utterly fails since the prologue chapters before 6 obviously pushes for one side of the story. I would not have wanted to drop additional money for a game I didn't feel was worth it, without spoilers all I'll say is both stories are virtually identical except with different skins. Exception being Revelation of course.

@K-Off, not really. Like I said, you buy one you get the other at a discount. Considering the length of the games its not exactly unfair to charge for both. But the choice is rather superficial though. Do you want to play the peace loving guys or the awesome warmongers? Kinda like asking a kid “Hey do you wanna play as a pillbug or a velocrapter?”

@Bam When possible I’d recommend you try Governor’s Ball, it’s easy on your legs and always has a great lineup.

@Aidan Absolutely despised how FE Fates advertsies the illusion of choice when the decision is already made at the store.

@Bam: well, I’m super interested to do volunteer. Indeed I did volunteer in many of the programs just so I can watch show/movies/events for free. The only problem is I’m staying in Australia so it kinda hard to do.

@Mamamoo: not sure if you’re still around, but I recommend Humunculus as a very decent psychological drama, featuring great art; albeit it launches stronger than it lands. Tropical Citron is a great hidden gem of a manga, and it’s only two volumes. On the action side of things I’ll recommend Vagabond, since it’s a great retelling of the Musashi legend with fantastic linework. Berserk is a classic, so I suggest getting into Vinland Saga when you inevitably get up-to-date.

I have formed quite a repertoire with the staff, planners, vendors and volunteer coordinators at LiB. I can get you a volunteer position, which makes your ticket free for about 20 hours of helping them with various tasks. Most of the volunteers are great people, so you would have fun and learn quite a bit from these guys. It is also possible to do your hours before or after the show, So you can attend the actual festival days without hassle. Let me know if you’re interested.

Flying witch – 08

Watching Flying witch really feel like listening to a classical music, where the long running time flies by and we actually feel it more than try to understand it. This week we continue what was left off last week, with Makoto, Chinatsu, Kei meeting the owners of the café shop and their regular customers. This […]

Mayoiga – 09

Now the trick to enjoy Mayoiga is to expect the unexpected. Anything could happen, and probably will. The series has successfully tweaked our noses weeks after weeks, then if Mayoiga stops being ridiculous and becomes conventional, I would be very disappointed. The fun is again on par this week and we have one of the […]

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World – 09

This week I happened to see the result of delaying the release of Re:Zero on a certain message board. It was pure pandemonium as there were those too lazy to google demanding the next episode, trolls trying to convince people the episode was delayed to next week with fake screenshots of twitter posts, haters and […]

Kiznaiver – 08

In my last post I assumed that this episode would be about Tenga as the episodes title seems to suggest but it turned out to be more an episode about Agata than anything else. It basically confirmed my previous assumptions about Agata and Noriko being involved with the previous Kiznaiver project when they were children […]

Bungou Stray Dogs – 08

I have to say more than anything this is Bungou Stray Dogs’ special episode, in a sense that in one hand, the show produces one of its most brilliance ever, but on the other hand, there are still many shortcomings along with the greatness, producing an episode that mostly entertainment but uneven. The introduction of […]

Joker Game – 08

Flying witch – 07

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World – 08

Kiznaiver – 07

To some this may be the strongest episode of Kiznaiver to date. However to someone like myself I find myself mixed on what I just witnessed. Lucid9: Inciting Incident Video Game Review – 85/100

Chinese Animation Guide – Part 2: Chinese Anime shows

As much as I hated the term Chinese Anime (Anime stands for Japanese animation, strictly speaking), this is the exact term for those shows. Their influence from the Anime was so heavy that apart from the voice cast and some scene settings, you can’t tell those apart from the original anime. With that said, judge from […]

If anyone have been followed animation closely for the last few years, they will notice a recent rise of Chinese animation (call it a wave if you like), both in feature and in series. While it does not have much of an impact in any English speaking world like anime has been, they are really popular in their mainland and some parts of Asian countries. With the success of Kung Fu Panda (half-produced by China) and its power on movies industry (China IS the main market for feature films now), it is worth it to take a look on this current trend and see how they are different from anime.
While my fellow bloggers are the ones who more specialize in Games and Manga, I will be the one who cover World Animation (by that I mean anything animated other than anime and American big studio animation – they got way too much coverage already). Like majority of you guys I am not from China, my Chinese is as good as my Japanese (which is to say NONE), so this is actually goddamn difficult to look for titles, and the information I could find are sacred here on top of that find a suitable sub for it, most of them does not even have an English name, thus the title and the synopsis that I give you here are just a rough translation. So behold. This is our very first attempt to cover the animation of china.
