That first half of the episode was just amazing. The dialogue between Yasako and Isako was just right, and I actually cried when Isako started to break down. Yasako really tried to comfort Isako in the way she would speak to Kyoko, whenever she’s scared. When Kyoko arrived, and asked Isako to save Densuke, she only made things even better.

The rest of the episode built up for the final few episodes of this series. We get a few confirmations of things that the observant ones among us probably already figured out: Nekome and Takeru are brothers, Takeru is the owner of the pink cat with ears, and he basically betrayed Isako out of jealousy towards his brother. I’ve also been reading a few posts from animesuki, and it seems that the reason why Nekome has access to the stronger versions of the Sacchis is because he works for the government, and can basically use them as he pleases.

Also, Densuke indeed is no ordinary dog. I couldn’t catch the details due to my lack of Japanese, but there actually is a chance for both Yasako’s grandfather as 4423’s brother to be alive. Yasako’s grandfather also seemed to know about 4423 before both of them disappeared. The final parts of the episode basically consist out of a chase for Densuke, after Nekome found out that he’s important somehow I must say that it was awesome to see Daiichi in action again. From what I understood is that Densuke is the key to access Coil’s domain, which is what I suspect to be the place where the humanoid illegals live. Hence why both Yasako and Kyoko encountered them.

What’s also interesting is how Nekome refers to Yasako as “sensei”, and how a password to some of the guy’s secret stuff is located inside Nekome’s database. Does this mean that Yasako’s grandfather used to work for the same company that Nekome is working for?

    -gasp!

Of course I meant 4423 himself… not his brother. :P

Still, this is speculation, basically since the one who told Isako that 4423 is dead wasn’t the most trustworthy source (being Takeru and all).

  3. r3dking says:

Nekome didn’t seem to be having much luck in trying to control the black automatons. He may have access to the system, but he’s not in control. He’s got his own agenda, though he may be trying to leverage a connection to the legal bureau to pursue it.

Yasako’s grandfather was a doctor in the MegaMass hospital, and was treating the first round of Coil victims. We knew that already, at least by implication. We didn’t know that 4423 was a medical case code, however. I wonder who the other case codes belong to.

Sheer speculation: Takome may himself have been one of the earlier coil victims saved by Yasako’s grandfather. He’s suspicious that MegaMass may have had a direct role in his doctor’s death, and has been trying to use Isako’s imago ability to try to track down his old doctor in the Coil Domain. Note that he didn’t even know about Yasako before this episode; if he had, he probably would have tried to work through her also, or instead. I’m guessing he’ll join the rest of the gang now, and the common enemy will be MegaMass.

Given that Yasuko’s father, grandfather, uncles, and various other older family members have MegaMass connections, she could probably pick up a lot of information by just asking. But it’s perfectly believable that it doesn’t occur to her.

    – really need to tell me where you download this series (or do you directly get it from the corp?)

  5. r3dking says:

wao points out that the very first episode shows the 4423 medical code on the folder in the background, in the scene where Yasako first opens the package from her grandfather containing the Dennou glasses. So it’s like a good mystery story! They introduce the necessary clues early on, before you know to look for them. Now I have to go back and re-watch all the earlier episodes to see what else they may have left a clue for.

The biggest mystery for me is Isako’s background. Where did she learn to code? Where did she get her non-standard pets? Is she related to Yasako through some family connection, such that she might have got a gift from Yasako’s grandfather also?

  6. Sandor Arbitrary Intelligence says:

The very first series indeed shows many things, Nekome and Tamako appear as well =)

As far as I got it, Densuke and Isako’s Mojos are mentioned as “Coils life” and are probably a kind of real artificial life (unlike normal, simulated pets – automatons and petmatons) based on the same coil effect.

There was another name mentioned in the argument between Takeru and Nekome (even more siblings? Don’t tell me Isako will be related to someone too, she’s supposed ot be the lonely char here!) of someone who seems to be in control of those low-level format black automatons >_> Man, theyre scary. And their ability to transfer physical pain sensation back to a target’s via their imago doesn’t look like a space maintenance function, more like asassianation utility. Anyway, Megamass seems to be quite a shady illuminati-type organisation.

  7. hssc says:

    So… Isako has brother-complex, huh?

My respect for her is now transforming into sappy sympathy… she needs to shape up again

I think, after watching the recommended episodes for kaleid and watching the first 3 eps of it, I’m solely watching for Gil. All the other stuff (and girl mc’s) is a side-plot to Gilga-f******-mesh wrecking people.

@Vonter, Personally I only give a score to stick to Psgels format. If up to me I would just give a recommended or not recommended verdict.

Ok, then now it’s more clear. Since from what I’ve heard in-between critics some say comparisons is the path of unhappiness. Or so I’ve heard.

@Vonter It’s a hodgepodge of our personal experience with a particular show alongside the “objective” goods and bads, coupled with comparisons to anything else that we have reviewed.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei – 03

Plenty of action this week as we have faceoffs between Beatrice and Illya with Gil and Angelica firing legendary weapons back and forth. I wish there was a bit more fight animation here as while it was the same in the manga, it’s still a shame to have the scene cut away just when the […]

91 Days – 03

Seeing as things didn’t quite go to plan for Avilio last episode, it’s now time for him to prove his innocence to Nero. Avilio is playing his cards right and things would have gone to plan if it wasn’t for the man who lead them to Fango before. He states out of curiosity that he […]

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World – 17

While I did enjoy this episode and think that some interesting things have been brought up, I must admit that even my patience is starting to run out. I blame this mostly on the fact that I am watching this weekly instead of binge watching it all as the progression in these episodes has slowed […]

EVA 01b

Neon Genesis Evangelion – 01

Truth be told, I’ve never seen any of the EVA franchise, and it’s not normal since EVA is a must for any anime viewer. I don’t really know the reason why I keep myself from watching it, maybe both because mecha is not my favorite genre, and the hype of EVA is just overwhelming that […]

Berserk(2016) – 03

Forgive me for the delay on this particular post but I must admit that in light of Berserks quality my interest in covering it has somewhat declined. I know that for every episode to come I will have to dance around the elephant in the room but this series isn’t making that easy for me. […]

Orange 03d

Orange – 03

So this week we finally encounter a love rival. Of course with a romance drama show like Orange there had to be someone who would stand on their way right? Except there’s not much of a rival really since Naho never stands a chance against the new girl Ueda. As she learns hard and clear […]

91 Days – 02

At this point I think it’s clear what kind of show we are getting. It’s not Hitman Reborn which essentially uses its mafia inspiration as window dressing for shounen battles. Nor is it Baccano with a silly yet funny atmosphere combining the prohibition setting and supernatural. No, what we have here is the old school […]

Thunderbolt Fantasy – 02

Sometimes there’s a show that so campy and fun that you just can’t help but enjoy watching it, and then sometimes there’s a show that completely takes you by surprise by how unique it is. Thunderbolt Fantasy offers both of these in a neat package and further showcases the richness of animation as a medium […]

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World – 16

Looks like the new opening and ending won’t be getting much use in this second cour either, not that I am complaining of course. This week I  wouldn’t be surprised if people were getting sick of Subaru as his actions continue to be erratic and destructive. The ending of the last episode gave hope that […]

Legend of Legacy Review – 80/100

Oh Square Enix, this is the kind of avant-garde work you need to do. Developed by Furyu with the people behind SaGa, and written by Masato Kato of Chrono Trigger, I knew I was in for a unique game right from the start. But its gameplay is certainly divisive and for good reason, as this […]

My Life as a Courgette (2016) Movie Review – 82/100

It’s never easy to make a good family’s animation. For movies aim at adults, the filmmakers can easily get themselves loose, go crazy and the audience can still get it. Flying witch Review – 86/100

As I mentioned in one of my weekly posts, most of the reason why a slice-of-life anime show don’t work well is not because there’s nothing happen, but more because the cast isn’t interesting enough or the show tends to repeat the things that we already know. I’m happy to say that this is not […]

Mayoiga Review – 78/100
