Hetalia: Axis Powers

Short Synopsis: Our lead characters… are a bunch of countries.
Chance of me Blogging: 100% (yeah, because I’m already blogging it)
I’m still a bit bitter that Holland wasn’t made fun of in this series so far (especially when even Estonia has its own character), but sarcasm aside, I really liked this series. You can trust Studio Deen to come up with the more crazy mangas to adapt, and the huge amount of country references was hilarious to watch. It’s going to be interesting if this series can keep this up. As for the ones who got offended by this series: you should start poking fun at other countries yourself.

Fresh Precure!

Short Synopsis: Our lead character receives the power to become a magical girl.
Chance of me Blogging: 0% (Obviously not)
So yeah, I checked this out in the hope that it might actually be something worthwhile, but in the end I couldn’t really find anything to really make me keep watching it, although it did turn out a bit better than your generic mahou shoujo series. I particularly liked how one of the bad guys put too much sugar in his tea because he had never seen it before, and the costume design is nice enough, but overall it really doesn’t try much to set itself apart in the mahou shoujo genre. Especially the lead character just tries too hard to be funny, the mascot character too. Not to mention the abysmally animated concert scene, the the downright painful ED and how everyone conveniently disappears when a monster shows up. I could also whine about the very bad physics in this series, but hey, this is a mahou shoujo series for kids. What else could you expect?

Denpateki na Kanojo

Short Synopsis: Our lead character is a legendary king who happens to be stuck in the body of a random high school boy.
Chance of me Blogging: 40% (Perhaps)
Yeah, the way this one started definitely got me worried. Here we have a legendary demon king inside a high school boy, and guess what: a cute girl arrives from out of nowhere to protect him. Still, this OVA is good stuff. The episode was well told and pretty nicely built up with some pretty good suspense parts. The lead characters slowly grew likable, and the action doesn’t aim to be as over the top as possible, but kept all the fight subtle but believable (I love it when a character actually gets disabled when hit by a very hard and solid object). Some parts were a bit too emo for my liking, but this is going to be a pretty good OVA if the rest of the episodes can keep up this pace.

  1. LOL, I actually got to meet the animators who were working r-e-a-l-l-y hard on Fresh PreCure almost to the point of me checking it out (my cousin-in-law supervises a team of background animators for it) but then I couldn’t get past my bias against mahou shoujo, and reading this post confirms that it really isn’t relevant to my interests.

Ooh, that’s very nice. If I remember clearly, the background art looked really nice and Power Puff Z-ish in this series. It’s just that the foreground animation was quite rubbish at times…

  3. Holland was actually mentioned in the manga (just mentioned sadly ^^; but at least we know there’s really a Holland-tan xD). From what I remember he was depicted as a scary guy because he had beaten Sweden and Finland up from that strip. Hehe.

    Maybe I’ll check out the thirs series you mentioned . .. but Precure . . .nah ^^;

I have seen all the “Yes ! Precure 5″ series so I’ll probably try to give ” Fresh precure” a try, well , what’s wrong with those series is the repetition of always the same monsters’ attacks and the same transformation over and over appear rather boring but the good thing with at least the previous precure is the colors and the character – design and the accuracy of every phase in the transformation, but for me the most interesting parts were, without a doubt, near the final eps, where things start to get a bit more tougher or “realistic” in some way, at least the precure oppose real characters than weird monsters possessing an object of everyday life. I was really reluctant to watch it and gave up on it, but some time later I gave it another chance and I rather liked it but it’s sometimes boring and too repetitive, but the colors were great and the story in some parts entertaining , I especially loved ” The precure 5 movie” ( that one was one good thing!) , that’s why I’m gonna watch at least the first five eps of Fresh Precure then I’ll see, but you’re right it’s useless to blog it.

Suddenly I see everyone shit talking the company. Were the hell where these guys before?
Anyway I basically want a gaming powerhouse. Best I can get. Though the site also needs to be able to deliver to Ireland.
I heard about the MSI titan but even people are saying the same things about that. I just don’t know whats what anymore.

@Raggers, I ain’t tech savey but when I looked at this laptop at first all I saw was praise for the damn thing. Biggest cons were that it was overpriced and weighty but hell I didn’t care if it meant I would be getting value for money. But now I hear that the 18 has been disontinuted because they want to sell some stupid gaint box that you carry with your laptop to make the graphics better and there nothing but mudslinging at it.

I have an old Alienware desktop and while it was cool when I got it, I don’t think it was worth it for the price. Could have got better specs for cheaper. The case was all nice and organized and easily upgradeable though, and everything was set up nicely. The graphics card was even pre-overclocked.

@Aidan, I don’t think there’s anything particularly wrong with Alienware, they make quality computers and their design is kickass if you like that style. It’s just that you can get similar specs for a lot cheaper, Alienware is quite expensive.

@Aidan: um… I don’t know where you’ve been looking, but pretty much everyone who knows what they are on about wouldn’t recommend Alienware.

Sigh…just found out that the Alienware laptop I had my eye on has been discontinued. So it wasn’t out of stock. They just stopped selling it. And now suddenly everywhere I hear “Alienware sucks, overpriced garbage”

Death Parade Review – 65/100

When I heard that Death Billards would be getting a full 12 episode series called Death Parade I was quite excited. The one episode short looked to be an excellent concept for a episodic series. A bar which people are sent to when they die which decides whether they go to heaven or hell […]

Death Parade – 12

So this is the end of Death Parade. Or at least this is the end of what may be it’s first and last season. The ongoing plot didn’t so much as tie itself up but rather fizzle out. Leaving a second season to tie up loose ends. A second season that may never come. I […]

Parasyte The Maxim Review-82.5/100

Parasyte, along with Gugure Kokkuri-San, are the only two shows from the last season that I’ve actually finished, and that’s actually saying quite a lot–seeing as how I haven’t been watching (much less blogging) anime at all this past season. However, I figured I should at least write a final review for Parasyte, just because […]

Death Parade – 11

So we are reaching the final conclusion and things are coming to a head. Chiyuki’s memories are restored and we find that in life she was an ice skater. An odd choice but it did lead to a rather beautiful scene of Chiyuki skating on Ice as she recalled her past. Admittedly I did try […]

Death Parade – 10

So Onna name is finally revealed and newly christened Chiyuki plays a game of old maid with a storyteller. Death parade, you are doing it again. You are drifting from what should be the focus of the series and really pushing this ongoing plot thread. So we learn a number of things. One, that Chiyuki’s […]

Durarara!!X2 – 09

In reflection I think Durarara may have been a poor choice to blog. The reason being that when I sat down to watch this episode I was fully intent on finding something I could comment on. Then as the end credits roll I find myself at a loss to what to write about. With […]

Death Parade – 09

Well the end of the episode did get over melodramatic but still, a very good episode. It is rather amusing to see two people bond over a shared goal of revenge. Their thinking slowly edged towards a dangerous outlook it became clear that one of these two is not on the same wavelength as the […]

Durarara!!X2 – 08

No animation issues this time around thankfully. Really like the touch of Irelands flag on the cup Shinra gave the girl at their apartment. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Celty is indeed Irish. Probably one of the few Irish characters in anime. And here we learn that the one who told the little girl […]

Death Parade – 08

Why do you do this to me death parade? You dodge your true potential and instead focus on background exposition or, of all things, comedy. Then just as I was about to lose interest and give up, you present the best episode of the series so far. Now this, this is what I was talking […]

Nerawareta Gakuen Review – 84/100

Let me talk a bit about Ryousuke Nakamura. For a long time, this guy was my hero. He started off as an assistant director to Monster, in my opinion a big reason why that series got such a ridiculously solid adaptation, and then in 2008 he came with the groundbreaking Mouryou no Hako. No TV-series […]

Kick Heart

Okay, so I didn’t want to exit 2013 without having seen Masaaki Yuasa’s Kick Heart. It’s only twelve minutes anyway, and I consider him to be one of the best anime directors out there. The story here is pretty silly and mostly serves as a backdrop, so I mostly want to talk about the nature […]

Everyone’s taste is different, and that’s a wonderful thing because that allows us to have so many different forms of media that all aim toward their own niche. Noucome! You do not want to know how long I have been waiting for a series like this. More than half a decade, at the very least. Finally a series comes along and puts the incredibly overused harem genre in its place. And it actually does it well. Thank you! So to elaborate: the harem […]

Pokemon: The Origin Review – 75/100

Normally I try to avoid spoilers with these reviews, but screw it, it’s Pokemon. Pokemon The Origin is a bomb of nostalgia. Tamayura – More Aggressive Review – 75/100

I’m not going to dedicate a post for my impression for the final three episodes of this series. It was just too boring to write much about. Silver Spoon Review – 86/100

When Noitamina started airing two series per season, it was amazing. Yondemasuyo, Azazel-San Z Review – 82,5/100
