Interesting episode, and I’m still surprised at how good the battles in this series are. This episode starts the offensive of Ayanami to get Teito out of that church, and while this episode only showed the beginning of his wave of attacks, he did immediately use Mikage’s sister for his plans. We still have no idea why the heck Mikage was released in the first place, though.

And with this episode it also becomes clear that Teito has hidden powers, but ah well, I guess that there was really no other way with him being exceptionally talented for a student, and everyone and his dog in the military having to go after him. Ayanami now also knows that there’s something really strong protecting Teito, so it’s going to be interesting to see what his next plans are going to be. Frau and the others can’t protect Teito forever, and while their weapons may be strong against ghouls, they’re going to have to face trained military artists now.

My prediction though, is that Teito is going to remain in the church just fine until at least episode 13, at which probably something major is going to happen. In the meantime, this show is doing a good job of fleshing out the characters and their strange customs. There’s an entirely different culture inside this church, and the light-hearted moments of this show have really allowed to show some interesting customs and rituals of what goes on inside the church. Because of the Ghosts, I can imagine how the church has managed to survive for ages without any influence from the outside, and so they really were able to explore what they found were important.

Rating: * (Good)
A bit clichéd, but nevertheless the fight rocked.

  1. It was a good episode? Some parts got me disappointed though, but I guess I’ll wait for the subs for things to be clearer for me and to see if my guesses on what’s going on are right and if my impressions would remain.

    Wait, the girl is really Mikage’s sister? I thought she only reminded him of her. But there’s a difference on hair color o_o;;;

Oh, the one that’s protecting Teito . . .that hidden power . . . was presented so awesomely in this anime. *very delighted*

just to point out somethin…now plz do read this b4 u do ur next review…cuz it mite b helpful…do u guys remember that last scene where Ayanami used the spell on mikage…dont u think its possible…that he inserted some parts of himself into Mikage in order to monitor Teito who would willingly take Mikage in?Thus,is it also not possible that Mikage was released in order for Ayanami to continue on with his plan?

@Bam, That wasn’t live TV. That was a TV show that was in the MMO. Yes, a tv show which is broadcast and filmed in a MMO. You may put faces to palms now.

@Aidan: I haven’t watched it past episode 2 but I gather from you guys that there are two deathgun guys, one of them which is the RL killer. So I’m saying how did he kill that guy that was being interviewed on live tv in the 1st episode?! Makes no fuckin sense.

Seriously this show….f*ck this show. We both are eager to drop it. But we are waiting for Grisaia to start up so we can watch that together.
And yet it’s still getting praised…I am truly baffled.

Funny enough that isn’t even the worse of it. The last episode consisted of Ass-chan and trapito(Our pet names for the two) sitting in a cave talking. Mostly about stuff that has already happened or been gone over. All while being…weirdly intimate. I mean this is the girl whos sorta tsundere and she’s laying her head on his lap and he’s invading her personal space. They weren’t even talking about anything remotely romantic.

So how did second death gun break in while leaving no traces, shoot this guy while leaving no traces and leave without raising suspicion despite wearing a f*cking hoody and a helgast mask?

@K-Off, Myself and a internet friend have been watching SAO for the sole purpose of taking the piss out of it. We haven’t even managed that. Nothing happens in the episodes. We have feck all materail.
Anyway I thought that about the death gun twist too but the thing that makes even less sense is how is this second death gun not been arrested? I mean the police don’t give a shit about MMOs. They would just investagate it as a murder.

@Jak, Bleh. Video game adaption. Those do not end well. I mean I am glad to see UFOtable move away from type moon but there are better sources to use to do so.

A compartment dream gives the sensation of dreaming in a dream, and sometimes even the act of waking up within that dream. They have something to do with Dopamine Reuptake Inhibition and are very rare, but the details of the mechanism escapes me.

Mushishi – 07

Now this was such a beautiful episode. We often see Mushi portrayed as parasites. In fact, they are pretty much based on the insects and viruses of their world. There probably are enough real viruses and insects living in the Mushishi world, but they just aren’t the focus of the series. Anyway, what they did […]

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders – 06 & 07

This is where this arc gets weird. We’re still in adventure modus, however in these two episodes Jotaro not only meets some of the most bizarre Stand users, it’s also done in the most camp way possible. You can see a clear difference with the first two seasons of Jojo: there it was all about […]

Ping Pong – 05 & 06

Episodes 05 and 06 are dedicated to character-development. It’s here where Ping Pong shows that it also knows its stuff in terms of storytelling; the develoment doesn’t start too early or too late, and these two episodes really added depth to all of the different characters, despite that there were no big matches. I’m currently […]

Mushishi – 03 – 06

I have not forgotten about this show. Not at all. I just finished marathoning these four episodes, and holy cheeseballs on a stick! this is the best anime in years! This was everything I could have hoped for and blows just about everything else out of the water. Talk about raw, powerful storytelling. I now […]

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – 03 – 05

Jojo really is not kind to its females. Every time a hint is even dropped to a girl kicking ass here, it comes with this weird plot-twist that undermines any fighting potential of them. In this arc, it’s the rule that says that your stand will kill you if youaren’t strong enough. And so, Joseph’s […]

Ping Pong – 03 & 04

The opening of Ping Pong wasn’t done in time, so the first two episodes showed a sortof montage as a placeholder. Now we know why, with episode 03 and 04. The creators actually got the single best animator currently in the business to oversee it: Shinya Ohira. This guy understands animation like no other. The […]

Ping Pong – 02

Yes, I know that more people here were involved in making this series beyond Masaaki Yuasa. It’s written by the creator of Tekkon Kinkreet, Taiyo Mashimoto. That guy is awesome. And the combination between those two makes this series even better. Because here’s the thing: anime is significantly different from manga or light novels. Beyond […]

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders – 02

We can never quite get rid of magic fights at a school, now can we, Jojo. Ah well, I forgive it this time, just due to how hilarious it looks seeing these ridiculously bulky men walk around pretending to be high school students. It’s just so over the top, and yet Jojo sets itself apart […]

Mushishi Season 2 – 02

Oh yes. This is it. This is what storytelling should be about: telling real stories about real people, all with their own problems that need to be overcome. And this show does that time and time again in just one episode. I still can’t believe how authentic this series is. The thing is, when I […]

Nerawareta Gakuen Review – 84/100

Let me talk a bit about Ryousuke Nakamura. For a long time, this guy was my hero. He started off as an assistant director to Monster, in my opinion a big reason why that series got such a ridiculously solid adaptation, and then in 2008 he came with the groundbreaking Mouryou no Hako. No TV-series […]

Kick Heart

Okay, so I didn’t want to exit 2013 without having seen Masaaki Yuasa’s Kick Heart. It’s only twelve minutes anyway, and I consider him to be one of the best anime directors out there. The story here is pretty silly and mostly serves as a backdrop, so I mostly want to talk about the nature […]

Noucome! You do not want to know how long I have been waiting for a series like this. More than half a decade, at the very least. Finally a series comes along and puts the incredibly overused harem genre in its place. And it actually does it well. Thank you! So to elaborate: the harem […]

I’m not going to dedicate a post for my impression for the final three episodes of this series. It was just too boring to write much about. Silver Spoon Review – 86/100

When Noitamina started airing two series per season, it was amazing.
