Three episodes left, and we finally move to something that resembles a climax. This episode was much like episode five, in which a lot of focus was spent on trying to hack Medusa out of trying to destroy the world, especially focusing on Karin vs Kuniko. In this episode, Karin finally has to learn to grow up a bit, and the highlight of this episode was Kuniko, trying to talk some sense into her.

In the next episode, we should finally get some light of what the hell Ryouko has been up to throughout the series, as she finally seems to be ready to execute whatever plan she was scheming. Finally we see her taking one of the digmas (Mikuni) back to her. It could be that she was simply waiting for one Digma to collect all of the daggers, and figured that it might have gone faster if she’d just Karin collect the daggers, rather than send her own men to do the job. Probably she also did this in order to avoid suspicions on her part. That still leaves the question why she’s willing to let Atlas succumb to earthquakes, though.

I’m surprised that this episode was relatively quiet, especially since this series still has a lot of work to do in its final hour to wrap everything up. I suspect that this was really the last calm before the storm and I really wonder what the creators are planning to end this series with. Endings are always really tricky to really pull of well. This series does have the ingredients to make it work, but I’ve seen many awesome series with unimpressive endings, so I’m just going to keep my expectations low for this one.

With people desperately trying to stave off an economical calamity, and Medusa about to go Skynet at the end, this episode didn’t feel particularly “quiet” …

  2. Robhiengler says:

Good endings can only be pulled off if you actually had a cohesive story in the first place.

Where to start: well firstly since when does the UN intervene in the internal running of a country? Secondly Karin’s/MEDUSA action would be seen as criminal and therefore under the remit of Interpol.

The Guiness Clover in a cup of coffee or “Cohee” what’s that all about?

Karin for someone who claims to have done a PhD and programmed MEDUSA; she’s pretty stupid for not leaving a cryptographic back-door key into the program. I mean come on anyone whose watched “Hackers 1995” knows that. Since when did Klaris and Zhang go from traders – computer hackers – to physicists?

Maybe I’m retarded, clearly chounokoe thinks that, but maybe he/she can explain how MEDUSA can buy up Antartica when they clearly said no-one owns it in the first place in the previous episode then they say japan Carbon bank owns 7% wtf!? By buying up Antarctica how does this crash the “carbon economy” – How would that result in hyperinflation of commodities? – because the writers say so?

In addition MEDUSA was programmed to make money from the Carbon market, by crashing it, it will have effectively committed suicide; something it wasn’t programmed to do.

    Nice episode! – Hentaichan
Arigato – Pedo-san – If anyone thought that little girls in swimsuits photoshoot comment was acceptable – It wasn’t – crudely disgusting and unacceptable.

Seriously the three peverto-sans had a secret underground base ULTRA-SHELTER Z and they chose to stay on the surface when it was being fire-bombed. How logical.

Anyone watch Terminator 3 or Wargames? Essentially all sensitive military networks are physically off the internet. In all cases SKYNET and WOPR the computer in question had access or was part of that military grid, launching the nuclear missiles it had access to as part of M.A.D.. MEDUSA is a carbon market economics program, so why would it know or have access to military networks?

Zeus controls everything? That’s news to me as I’m pretty sure they said it controlled Atlas, but hey who cares what you wasted 12 episodes building up for, we’ll just make up anything.

  3. Robhiengler says:

Well just to reiterate: there is no way a supercomputer could take physical control of the world’s nuclear arsenals

@Bam: They’d never allow bringing in toys/games/comics back when I was in school, they thought bringing in such things would make the kids of lower income families feel bad for not being able to afford things.

@Mario: He’s actually not a big fan of Iranian cinema, he told me before that he found most of it overly depressing.
Now what you’re talking about there sounds like my kind of film.

@Bam: Well, I guess I more brought up the being accused of hipsterism and contrarianism referring to the type of hypothetical person who would never be satisfied with how well you’d defend your opinion.

Thats the awkward thing though, when casting a superhero role, its difficult to find someone who can get both identities correct.

Hey Bam, I remember attended a preview on one of an upcoming Iranian animated feature called The Last Fiction. it was inspired by the poem “Shahnameh” and from what I had seen so far, a very stylish, confident and “bloody” work. Expected to be complete in the end of 2017 thou.

Comic books were super rare and expensive in Iran, being banned and all. Rich kids in elementary would bring them to school to show them off, along with their Ninja Turtles action figures; they looked so cool and I was hella jealous. Me and my brother only had the bootleg Toxic Crusader figures lol

@K-off: I didn’t read the comics either. I watched that weird 60s show, and Spiderman and the Amazing Friends, which had Firestar and the ice guy. I know his personality was quippy and kind of a wise-ass, and McGuire looks kinda like a rape victim of sorts. It was a lot better in costume, I admit.

I mean if we use the term fanboy for whenever someone feels strongly about something, then what’ll we have left for people who LARP and insist to be called by their WoW character names and dress up in gear and persistently speak in fake ‘Ol English?

Kiznaiver Review – 60/100

Kiznaiver is a very different faire from Studio Triggers other works in that it takes a more serious tone and has a writer who tends to go more for the melodramatic. This is a tale about a group of very different people gathered together and have their pain linked to one another. In an effort […]

Kiznaiver -12

This was certainly pure narrative confusion at it’s zenith and in that regard I don’t mean that the events depicted were hard to understand but rather a general confusion on what mood it wants to go out on. In this episode we had comedic, drama and climatic showdown all hastily weaved together to try and […]

Bungou Stray Dogs – 12 (end)

And we get to the end of Bungou Stray Dogs, but this last episode doesn’t offer any conclusive ending, instead feel more like a set up episode for the next season. This last episode functions like a typically Bungou Stray Dogs’ episode; there are many good things to say about it, mainly the technical triumphs […]

Joker Game Review – 50/100

Joker Game – 12

Upon finishing yet another rather uneventful episode of Joker Game, I began to wonder just what this series had planned for its finale. “How best to top off a rather mediocre series such as this?” I thought to myself. However when looking over general consensus over the episode I found out that I seen the […]
