Usually when an anime shows its characters perform a play, it’s a real highlight. This time though, it’s the aftermath that really caught my attention. The play itself was rushed through and didn’t have much impact, but the impression it left on the different characters was what really caught my attention in this episode.

The big strength of this show is how it’s able to breathe life in a relatively large cast in a relatively small amount of time, and this all came together in that aftermath: just about everyone had something different to say about it and experienced something different, from Saori’s subtle compliment to her co-star to Nitori’s sister commenting how he just wrote himself into the story.

As for the “school festival”-part of this episode, it really was the standard fare that you always see in those kinds of episodes: a huge crowd, a cafe and a haunted house. It’s more realistic than usual, but still it reminded me how the slice of life isn’t why I’m watching this show. Instead, this is all about its characters, and whenever this episode built further upon them, it was really excellent.
Rating: ** (Excellent)
On a side-note: I’m currently experimenting with a new imagehost: upl.co. Has anybody ever had any bad experiences with them? Like, them deleting images or something?

As someone who just recently marathoned the manga, I find it amazing how they’re compressing lots of things from the manga, and still make it look awsome.

The next episode should be very interesting. I cannot believed, they’re gonna skip lot of chapters just so we can see ****/Shuu in action.

I thought Chiba lying and giving the flowers to Mako was really telling of her character. Even though she comes across as bitchy and cold that’s not all there is to her and that one gesture said a lot about how complex her character is. I really loved it. ^^

and they are not a giant company
    they are actual people

if you can disregard the site design, it’s very nice.

The manga as always been probably, one of my favourite mangas of all time so I was pretty excited when I heard about the anime. I must say I’m very pleased with it as of now. I’m just a little bit sad that it’s only going to be 11-12 or 13 episodes (I don’t remember) because what I loved the most about the manga was how the characters evolved through the years (we’re talking about 5-6 years since the beginning of the manga already). The anime still manage to put a lot into the characters so hurray! I’m also happy about the focus on Mako since he’s been my favourite character of the series (although my opinion is biased since Mako reminds me of myself xD). Can’t wait till next week!

If that’s the case, might as well go for broke.

You are still annoyed by that? Not sure how psgels approving of it changes anything. After all the guy praised the holy hell out of Blood C which is terrible.
Plus how many time do I have to say I don’t hate it?

@SuperMario: don’t let this taint your opinion of the series tho, Just pay attention to the details, and in the end share your own honest thoughts. I am genuinely interested to see what someone who doesn’t have a dog in this game thinks about the show.

Now I’m not a fan of this guy, but he does make some sound valid points here; yet even I agree that he takes it too far in a few places. I’m not good at video editing tho, and this proves that the love for the series is not limited to a few artsy types, but even mainstream personas that anime newcomers are banding around can appreciate the craft:

It is easy to undermine the value of originality, but it’s also fairly easy to show how that’s plain wrong. It’s objectively much easier to improve on existing concepts than to use creativity and imagination to come up with new angles, styles and fresh perspectives and twists in a medium that had gone stale. Any work can age and become old, but one can never take away from what made it special in the first place. They’ll forever be hailed as the Pioneers that they were.

    Now on unrelated note:
“[Anno turned EoE] into what the original end of the series would have been if it was given enough budget: strange, absurd, confusing and a work of art”.
Must be a quote from the “prime example of a blind fanboy” Bam right? Wrong! This was written by psgels himself. Guess whoever praises Eva is an idiot fanboy who doesn’t know any better. But yet those who bash it for a few repetitive shallow arguments are the true erudites.

What are we numbing ourselves to? The pain of band stress of modern life? Failing to fit or preserve the image that they tell us to uphold? This certainly needs to be brought to attention and critically analyzed.

Then there’s the 90 million daily opiate users, which basically means one out of every four people you meet are on one form of these things. Mothers, daughters, doctors, cops, teachers, all circling the drain. The US is nowhere near the most populated country, but we are by far the most consumer of prescription narcotics. That has to say something about our society.

There are 4 million patients, mostly kids between 8-16, that are on a daily dose of Adderall. That’s a straight mixture of several amphetamine salts, so for all intent and purposes crystal meth. Ritalin is also a powerful stimulant, and the cost/benefit analysis of this approach has always been proven to be damn reprehensible. ADHD is very rare, but used as a blanket term to just sedate the hell out of children that lazy parents don’t wanna deal with.

Kiznaiver Review – 60/100

Kiznaiver is a very different faire from Studio Triggers other works in that it takes a more serious tone and has a writer who tends to go more for the melodramatic. This is a tale about a group of very different people gathered together and have their pain linked to one another. In an effort […]

Kiznaiver -12

This was certainly pure narrative confusion at it’s zenith and in that regard I don’t mean that the events depicted were hard to understand but rather a general confusion on what mood it wants to go out on. In this episode we had comedic, drama and climatic showdown all hastily weaved together to try and […]

Bungou Stray Dogs – 12 (end)

And we get to the end of Bungou Stray Dogs, but this last episode doesn’t offer any conclusive ending, instead feel more like a set up episode for the next season. This last episode functions like a typically Bungou Stray Dogs’ episode; there are many good things to say about it, mainly the technical triumphs […]

Joker Game Review – 50/100

Joker Game – 12

Upon finishing yet another rather uneventful episode of Joker Game, I began to wonder just what this series had planned for its finale. “How best to top off a rather mediocre series such as this?” I thought to myself. However when looking over general consensus over the episode I found out that I seen the […]

Oh my. This game was just utterly, utterly incredible when it came out, so despite disliking the usual remasters (ahem, Valkyria Chronicles), I was pretty stoked when I learned I’d be able to play this again on better hardware.
