This just dawned on me while I watched this episode, but… am I the only one who gets the feeling that the creators are planning the kiss scene at the drama to happen around the climax of this series? I mean, especially after the cliffhanger of this episode suddenly showed Wako volunteering to be on the receiving end of Takuto’s kiss, this has to point at something that the creators are planning for that finale. It’s a nice twist, though: Wako finally accepted here that she’s into Takuto here. This episode was definitely a nice way to take care of one of the love triangles in this series.

And as for the rest of this episode, the creators did create a pretty good climax here for the characters who were introduced so relatively late in the series. The two new girls have been quite strange villains: they didn’t seem to care at all about being correct villains, and instead seemed like just adrenaline junkies who kept seeking for thrills. A way to go to phase 3,5 that combines you with your Cybody is an interesting way to say goodbye to them.

Takashi returning meanwhile had it coming, but I ‘m glad that the creators indeed went there. Again, it shows promise and brings the Adult Bank back into the picture, with someone who can actually apprivoise. This also explains the relatively large amount of time that the creators spent on building up this guy, even though at first he seemed like a very insignificant character.

And on a side-note: why didn’t Head sign the paintings of Takuto’s mother with his usual “R”?

This show needs more homosexual undertones.

There’s only 4 episodes left, right? Because when I watched this episode, what I had on the back of my mind, especially after last week’s plot heavy episode was… “Why did you rush the plot so fast last episode if you were going to waste so much time on the kiss part and closing the two stupid sidekicks arc?”

Disappointing episode for me. Did we need a 3.5 level if nothing comes out of it and everyone’s safe? Why drum up the heavy risks it has if you’re not delivering on it and making Takuto save the driver’s life at the end?

My disappointment stems in that that I expected the show to start seriously moving forward in those final 5 episodes in light of the previous one.

i completely agree with what Ncrdrg said above

  4. Tractatus says:

Well it gave a little demonstration of what fourth phase looks like, this merging between cybody and driver and foreshadows the consequences resultant from the breaking of the 3rd and 4th seals.

I think it was a nice buildup in a way.

    Just re-watched ep 20…
Is it just me or did Needle Star’s Qophlite just appeared in the Zero Time without breaking thru like Taburn or is it just that the producers don’t wanna break the tempo of the show?

But anyway, seriously… Wako… You rocked! XD

  6. Houlgrave says:

This episode was indeed quite interesting with the 3.5 phase, implicating all sorts of developments in these next few episodes.

I’m also curious at what next episode entails: it looks like something is going to happen with Sugata…and by all indications it will be something less-than-happy.

Zero Time is a place where the sealed cybodies end up after they and their users apprivoise. Tauburn may simply not be sealed like the others.

The German/Russian cartoons had no dialogue or description, but they were instead symbolic philosophical musings; like a painting of a man sitting on a tree and sawing off the very branch he is siting on.

Yeah my friend has The Art Of Last Exile which is pretty cool, but I prefer the artist’s collections over those centered around a certain series.

I think I saw one in Shibuya where it had a section of Shirow’s stuff in there, but it was expensive and the cover was too crowded so I couldn’t figure out what the actual title was lol

As dull as I found last exile , the designs by Murata did really immerse one in the world of the series visually.

Those are the Japanese anime/manga related ones. I have a whole series of ethnographic ones from different cultures, as well as a few volumes of German or USSR political cartoons and caricatures. Those are so dark and witty, they’re freakin remarkable, but I can’t find any of those anymore.

I have a Xenogears one from god knows where, the Koji Morimoto’s Orange handbook which me ex brought from Japan and I adore, plus one called Angel Collection III which is an omnibus one from various artists which I got in a pawn shop in SF.

What I need are those Range Murata artbooks, more Amano ones too. Somewhere out there there is a Greg Rucka X-men prose story with art by Amano in it.

Durarara!!X2 – 03

If its one thing you to can credit Narita for it that just when you think he cannot possibly make a stranger character, he then does. So the monster that Shizu smashed into the air in the last moment gets their story told and I am sure there are not many who would have guessed […]

Death Parade – 03

Well this isn’t quite what I expected. This episode was a much more lighthearted fare with it being about love. It was better than the last episode but still not to the level I expected from this series. The game this time barely factored into the story at all. The twist on it was that […]

Durarara!!X2 – 02

If this episode had a focus then the stars would be Celty and the Orihara sisters. Though there were other events such as Anri and Mikado going to karaoke with Erika and Walker but it wasn’t really all the important and seemed to be there to foreshadow a new character and set up what looks […]

Death Parade – 02

Well this isn’t the best start. I must admit to being disappointed in this weeks Death Parade. Mainly because it was essentially a recap of the first episode. This episode was from the perspective of two characters who were watching the events of the first episode. With a white haired ponytail girl introducing another to […]

Some Really Quick First Impressions: The Leftovers

Sorry for leaving these out but they are not really worthy of a full impression. So I am just tossing down my two cents here. Seiken Tsukai no World Break – Hoo boy…maybe I spoke too soon about Juuou Mujin no Fafnir being worse than Absolute Duo. Because beside this trash heap it’s at least […]

Some Quick First Impressions: The Rolling Girls, Yoru no Yatterman and Sengoku Musou

The Rolling Girls Short Synopsis: What did I just watch? I am just going to break it to you. I have no idea what to think of this show. This is a work by the same studio who animated Attack on titan. It is an anime original show (meaning it is not based on anything) […]

Some Quick First Impressions: Durarara!!X2, Soukyuu no Fafner Dead Aggressor – Exodus and Aldnoah Zero Season 2

Durarara!!X2 Short Synopsis: People are strange, when you’re a stranger. It felt like a lot happened, but nothing really changed. That is the first season of Durarara summarized perfectly. The show itself even seems to revel in this. That said the main enjoyment of Durarara is seeing the cast of wacky characters interact with each […]

Some Quick First Impressions: Kantai Collection, The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls and Tokyo Ghoul √A

Kantai Collection Short Synopsis: Our protagonist sucks at playing battleship This is an anime based on the popular browser game of the same name. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders Egypt Arc Short Synopsis: Our protagonist is going to Egypt to kill a vampire Jojo’s first season was a breath of fresh air with it’s ridiculous entertainment value. Nerawareta Gakuen Review – 84/100

Let me talk a bit about Ryousuke Nakamura. For a long time, this guy was my hero. He started off as an assistant director to Monster, in my opinion a big reason why that series got such a ridiculously solid adaptation, and then in 2008 he came with the groundbreaking Mouryou no Hako. No TV-series […]

Kick Heart

Okay, so I didn’t want to exit 2013 without having seen Masaaki Yuasa’s Kick Heart. It’s only twelve minutes anyway, and I consider him to be one of the best anime directors out there. The story here is pretty silly and mostly serves as a backdrop, so I mostly want to talk about the nature […]

Kyousogiga Review – 90/100

Everyone’s taste is different, and that’s a wonderful thing because that allows us to have so many different forms of media that all aim toward their own niche. Noucome! You do not want to know how long I have been waiting for a series like this. More than half a decade, at the very least. Finally a series comes along and puts the incredibly overused harem genre in its place. And it actually does it well. Thank you! So to elaborate: the harem […]

Pokemon: The Origin Review – 75/100

Normally I try to avoid spoilers with these reviews, but screw it, it’s Pokemon. Pokemon The Origin is a bomb of nostalgia. Tamayura – More Aggressive Review – 75/100

I’m not going to dedicate a post for my impression for the final three episodes of this series. It was just too boring to write much about. Silver Spoon Review – 86/100

When Noitamina started airing two series per season, it was amazing. Yondemasuyo, Azazel-San Z Review – 82,5/100
