Apologies for the delay. There are times when I’m just a bit lazy with my entries. In any case though, the second half of Mirai Nikki has proved to be much more entertaining than the rather boring first half, and especially the final quarter of the series is without a doubt the best part of it.

Ninth’s death was really sappy, but it worked pretty well when Ninth suddenly started to relate to Yukiteru and realized the similarities they had. Oh, and I also love how the saves in this series have a mind of their own: out of their own volition they close off to protect Yukiteru, they only grant access to the makers (including their daughter) and even if you’re similar to said daughter you can get in. Again I’ve unfortunately been spoiled about the reason why, but the death of Eleventh was still very satisfying.

What I do like about Mirai Nikki is that, while it’s not the best of the season, it actually will end well. It waited until the manga was finished and allocated enough episodes to do it. With three episodes left and what seemed like the major antagonist Eleventh gone, I’m pretty excited for the final three episodes.

I do wonder, though: why is Akise in favor of making Yukiteru the next god, when he still has Eighth? I mean, he said that Yukiteru had a valid reason for bringing back his parents and restoring things to normal… but can’t eighth do that as well? He seems to forget that Yukiteru also has the makings of a psychopath and is incredibly emotionally unstable. I’d rather trust eighth, to be honest.

    Elevenths expression was priceless.

Now I am curious as to how the final 3 episodes will lay out. I have no idea what they are going to do now that all threats are gone save the world being devoured by time balls.

Also I’m glad to hear they actually waited for the manga to finish instead of going for a different ending.

    5 episodes more

Akise’s a homo, don’t you remember? He has a thing for Yukiteru. Lol yeah, but seriously.

  4. Oroboros says:

Eleventh: Boring. No climax at all.

Eleventh suddenly hears the vault unlocks and spots the Second.
    Eleventh dies like a bitch.

    Priceless.

    • Cholisose says:

Got to say, I was really surprised at just how suddenly Eleventh was killed off like that.
And that look on Yuno’s face peering into the vault was terrifying.

  5. Endon says:

I’m not so sure about this ending well. There are three to five episodes left, so if they go anime-original, it should be fine. But if they try and follow the manga, they are going to have some problems. This episode ended at chapter 47. There are 59 chapters.

    • Oroboros says:

Should be fine because Episode 21 just went through 4 chapters, and 20 went through 4.5 chapters. So the remaining 5 episodes will not have to burn through as many chapters (12 remaining).

      • Endon says:

Ah, okay. No problems then. I haven’t really been doing much more than reading psgel’s posts, so I wasn’t sure about the number of chapters per episode right now.

  6. Anon says:

The reason for Akise’s fixation on Yukiteru should become clear in the next episode. I don’t know how I think about the ending, to be honest, even after reading it three times, so I’m not sure I can say the anime will end well… but for sure it should end like the mangaka intended.

  7. Ebod says:

I think they made it less apparent in the anime compared to the manga, but yeah, Akise has a major crush on Yukiteru.

I praised Fate/Zero for its story, pacing and charismatic protagonist. UBW I agreed to its superb battle animation and overall quality of first cour. Now when someone watches EoE or Eva Rebuild 2.2 and comments on nothing of quality, then who is the biased one here really?

If anything at least call Shinji a shitty annoying character- cuz even I won’t deny that.

When I mean discussion I don’t mean a series of personal likes and dislikes- but judging objective elements: plot consistency, animation quality, restrain in fan-service and pandering, over reliance on tropes and cliches, etc. Otherwise we all have our different preferences.

I agree with the cons of Eva, as well as its strengths. Same with Fate. Being pessimistic is a stance, not inherently a flaw. The setting of Eva predicates that tone. If anything I have a bias towards Berserk, and that’s mostly all out of nostalgia.

Also what ladies? Even the “gentlemen” part is stretching it. It’s very easy for someone who didn’t follow anime 20 years ago to criticize one of its most historic moments. At least this Tenka Seiha fella doesn’t talk smack about what he doesn’t really understand.

Being bias is not admitting to reasonable faults, not agreeing to them. Trying to exclude the historic significance of a show is not a calm rebuttal, but a desperate attempt to undermine. What is bias is defending Shirou’s childish idealism. Even Nasu realizes how ridiculous that sounds, and makes a point to counter it with one of his own characters. Although by the end he gives in and then pulls a Deus Ex Machina by reviving Archer one last time to tie up loose ends.

You are the one whose not calm. Minute I say one negative thing about your precious EVA and you get riled up. And I don’t even hate the show, I just don’t think it’s the pinnacle of the medium.
Ladies and gentlemen, presented below is the purest form of complete total blind Bias.

Now if someone wants to have a calm discussion about it I’m more than willing to partake. But if you hate the show then that’s fine, just let it be.

That’s the end of my rant. I know I won’t change any minds that have already been set, but K-off wanted to know what I found appealing about the series, and I gave my honest opinion.

An anime original that wasn’t an adaptation of some manga, LN or VN gave it a certain charm and unpredictability, which is absolutely a welcomed addition. Now I’m not gonna deny its plateura of problems, but it’s hard to sit back and hear people call Casablanca shit because it doesn’t have the flair and optimism of Age of Ultron.

Bungou Stray Dogs – 12 (end)

And we get to the end of Bungou Stray Dogs, but this last episode doesn’t offer any conclusive ending, instead feel more like a set up episode for the next season. Joker Game Review – 50/100

Mayoiga Review – 78/100

Mayoiga has to be one of the most misunderstood shows in recent years. On a surface, the premise alone has a lot of potential. Joker Game – 12

Upon finishing yet another rather uneventful episode of Joker Game, I began to wonder just what this series had planned for its finale. “How best to top off a rather mediocre series such as this?” I thought to myself. However when looking over general consensus over the episode I found out that I seen the […]

Mayoiga – 12 (end)

Mayoiga pretty much wraps up its story this week and for the series that focus much about anti-climaxes and inconsistency, this ending neatly conclude all of its main loose end.
